Renegade
By Patricia Logan

Trackers, Book 2

Though Raven Mathis and Miguel Huerta have recently opened their new recovery business, mimicking things they used to do on their own, things haven’t been going so well. They’re getting accustomed to working as partners, but business is slow. Some things have gone right. They’ve settled down in Nana’s house and are deeply in love. When they get a call asking if they can help recover a valuable pigeon’s blood ruby, they jump at the chance, even though they’re told they should probably carry guns.

When the man Miguel left for dead in the desert long ago unexpectedly shows up at their first meeting with their new client, the request that they come armed, suddenly becomes a harsh reality. Miguel is in total disbelief, suddenly faced with a ghost who might be out for blood, and when a dark stranger suddenly shows up with more threats, things start spiraling out of control. Miguel hates the fact that Raven is in terrible danger, but he can’t understand how his former lover is involved.

Figuring out how to navigate Miguel’s past may prove harder to overcome than they realize but they’re sustained by their love for each other. The rush to figure out why operatives are targeting them becomes a necessity, and though Miguel hates it, he realizes he may just have to rely on a few new colleagues to help.

He knows one thing though…killing the man he’d once been in love with, might be the only way to save Raven.

Excerpt:

I ran down the stairs and stopped to take a deep breath before pushing through the door into the bright sunlight. It was nearly three, having spent hours discussing everything we’d talked about. I pulled out my phone when I got to my truck. I was glad for the shade I’d parked in. It was February, but it was a warm day, and my air conditioning wasn’t that great in the old truck. As I looked down at the phone, keys in hand, I suddenly felt all the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

A second before I could react to pull my gun, I was body slammed front first into the driver’s side door. My keys dropped to the pavement. Steely arms closed around my midsection, but I reacted without thinking, slamming my head back as my training kicked in. I heard a sickening crunch as the back of my head caught my attacker in the face. The pain in my skull was jarring and I shook my head as I heard the curse.

“Trigg! Motherfucker! Stop!”

I stilled instantly, hearing the voice I hadn’t heard in eleven years. I pushed back, feeling the person separate from my body, and turned. Standing a few feet away from me, looking stunned in a tattered ballcap, blood dripping from his broken nose, stood John Sutter, watery green eyes streaming, as he tried to stem the blood sliding down his face.

“God damn you, Trigg,” he gasped. “That fuckin’ hurt.”

Trackers, Book 1

I’ve always been a sucker for a guy with muscles and a handsome face. If that makes me sound shallow, maybe I am. I’ve never had a real relationship, unless you consider the guys in my Marine Corps Recon unit. I had a great relationship with those guys. Yeah, yeah, I know we’re splitting hairs. These days, long after my retirement from active duty, the only kind of relationships I really do now are with fictional characters.
I love to read, and in fact lately, I’ve been frequenting the pages of my favorite blog, Bestreads, to escape my real-life job, one I’m not very well suited for. One reviewer on there—Nightcrawler—absolutely slays me. He always makes me laugh, steering me clear of some of the worst trash out there when I’m not trying to earn money as a bounty hunter. Maybe someday the right man will come along, and he won’t simply be a book boyfriend.
Someday.
Lately, I can’t get intrigued by any of the guys I’ve met in bars. Hookups are becoming less and less interesting for me. I’m a reader and of late, I’m also a half decent reviewer. I work exclusively for a blog called Bestreads, working under the name of Nightcrawler and I’m not ashamed to admit, I try to make them funny. In my line of work as a recovery agent for a big insurance company, I’m finding my off hours much more pleasurable.
I think about my next review and my next blog post all the time. Whenever I put up a funny two-star review, I dream of the guy who might be at home reading it, but pretty sure the kind of man who reads me, is probably living in his mother’s basement. Still, I’m a romantic at heart. Someday I might just run into him in one of my stories.
Someday.

Sundowners, Book 2

Vampire Creed Lowell’s life was altered fifty years ago at the hands of an ancient being known only as The Source, right before rogue members of the cult he belonged to destroyed their way of life. Just as Creed discovers the identity of the responsible party for that terrible tragedy, temptation is placed in his path in the form of grad student Roman San Angelo, a stubborn, proud, infuriating man who’s everything Creed ever wanted in a partner. When Creed’s past catches up to them, Roman is snatched from his grasp and Creed is forced into hiding, saddled with the care of his former mentor. He’s the only one strong enough to heal them and prevent a catastrophic event, though his rage builds the longer he’s kept from his love.

When Roman’s safety is threatened once more, the two are finally reunited, and Creed is devastated to see the physical effects of Roman’s run-in with The Source. He wants nothing more than to secret Roman away and share whatever time they have left on this Earth in peace. But once again, Creed is forced to sacrifice everything when an old enemy sets their sights on his unique genetic makeup and skills.

This time, it’s Creed who’s taken, and Roman will do whatever it takes to rescue him, even if it means trusting the being that nearly ended his life. With the help of Roman’s long-suffering uncle, a determined FBI agent, and a mysterious benefactor with a multitude of resources at his disposal, they’ll need to bring down a shadowy financial powerhouse and put an end to their villainy before it’s too late for Creed to have a life with his beloved.

Moonwish is a continuation of the events in Sundowners and the books should be read in order. The events of this story are resolved by the end, but Roman and Creed will continue to work towards a resolution of the series’ story arc in future books.

Excerpt from Moonwish:

The human body is a miraculous machine. Think about it. The liver can regenerate itself in as little as four weeks, the human brain can retain an amount of information equal to 20,000 dictionaries, and the circulatory system acts as a high-speed transportation system, moving 8,000 liters of the life-giving, life-sustaining elixir around our body every day that we all need to survive.

Blood.

I’d never given much thought to my blood until it was taken from me involuntarily. Not spilled, not withdrawn in a medical procedure… no. It had been removed. Pints of it. And I couldn’t even be mad. Well, I could, but then I’d have to be mad at the man I’d fallen ridiculously in love with, and since he was the reason I got out of bed every day, and the reason I was currently strapped with wires all over my torso while running—walking, I mean—I had to let that shit go. I wouldn’t be running for a long time to come, if ever.

I could be mad. Or at least perturbed, but I wasn’t. Not really.

“Creed Lowell, I swear, when I get out of this place, I’m going to kick your ass—”

“Mmm, I can’t wait.”

The treadmill slowed to a stop. I grabbed for my water bottle while the nurses got the readings from my latest test, and I gasped like I’d just finished a marathon. Hopefully I’d done better this time and would be one step closer to getting released from the convalescent hospital. I felt better, stronger, but I still needed to use a cane, and I was nowhere near the shape I’d been in before. Hypovolemic shock is a bitch.

Creed’s smile on the screen of the SAT phone made the pain lessen somewhat, though being kept away from him hurt more than I could stand.

“You’re such a tease,” I said, between gasps for air. “You’re going to be in so much trouble when I get out of this place.”

Creed sighed. “Promise? How much longer, have they said?”

The thing driving me through my rehab was that I knew Creed needed me as much, if not more, than I needed him, and I was desperate to be with him again. This FaceTime bullshit wasn’t cutting it.

The door opened and my uncle—Santa Cruz PD Officer Reynaldo Cabral—entered with a laugh.

“Hey, Six Dollar Man, you almost done? I gotta get back.” My uncle could be an asshole—my favorite nickname for him was Dicknaldo, after all—but he was just as anxious for me to get out of rehab and back to my life as I was. It wasn’t only because he was sick and tired of being our go-between. He had possession of the super-secret bat phone that Creed and I had to use to communicate. Creed was being kept at a classified location by an FBI agent who was working with a non-governmental task force to deal with the events that put me here.

No. Uncle Rey wanted me out of here so we could all focus on finding the people who’d been wreaking havoc on our hometown, and who regularly took blood and energy from people without their permission.

The plan was that as soon as I was well enough to be released, I’d be secreted away in the dead of night to be reunited with my lover. It sounded like the plot of a romance novel, but in reality, it was much more serious than that.

“Six Dollar… fuck off. I’ll be done in a minute.” I used a towel to wipe my face, cringing at the thought that once upon a time, I could run a six-minute mile, and now walking for six minutes at two-point-five miles per hour had me sweating buckets and wrung out.

“Sorry, Rey. It’s my fault we’re taking so long. I love watching him sweat.” Creed winked at me, but the absence of his multi-watt smile let me know that while this rehab was physically torturing me, it was torturing him by proxy.

“No problem, Nurse Creed. By the way, Vanessa wanted me to let you know that she’s sitting in on Stephen’s deposition tomorrow. Agent Barringer is going to be participating remotely as well, so I’m sure he’ll keep you updated as much as he can.”

“I’m aware,” Creed said, his expression going dark. “Any word on Timothy Hicks?”

Rey shook his head. “Not yet. We’ve managed to get a few more names of folks involved, however, and it looks like what Stephen was saying about being a pawn may be sort of true.”

“Bullshit,” Creed said, but it was more of a summation than an interjection.

After my exsanguination at Loch Lomond in the Santa Cruz mountains, Stephen Adams had been captured by my intrepid aunt, Detective Vanessa Cabral. She’d barely kept herself from beating him to within an inch of his existence after he’d kidnapped her wife and son, and yours truly. But all Stephen would say was that everything he’d done was to care for The Source, that he had nothing to do with the attacks in town, nor the biomedical and financial organizations. We knew that wasn’t true—at the very least, he would be charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, and the murders of the four young men who’d been leading the terror campaign in downtown Santa Cruz. Stephen Adams would never be a free man again.

It wasn’t enough.

“I know,” Rey said. “But I’m no detective, so what the fuck do I know? Anyway, I’ll give you two a minute to wrap things up.”

He stepped back out into the hallway, and I smiled down at Creed, who winced.

“As much as I love seeing you without a shirt, I’m not a fan of your current accessories.”

I looked down at myself and poked at the monitors. “I don’t mind it. Hopefully the doctor will like my results this time.” I pulled the phone closer to my face. “How are you, though?”

Creed’s smile didn’t have the charm it used to, and the dark circles under his eyes worried me, though he always argued that he was fine.

“I’ll be better when I can kiss you. Hold you. Who are you that you’ve turned me from a solitary man into one who pines? I may be the mythological creature of darkness in this relationship, but it’s you who’s put a spell on me.”

If he’d been himself, if he’d smiled that flirty smile of his, I would have laughed out loud at his proclamation. But he was serious.

“There’s nothing dark about you, and you know it. Babe, I’m sorry. I’m trying my hardest. If all my tests look good in the next few days, the doctors will start making discharge plans.”

“I know you are, Roman. I’m just being morose. Ignore me. Please, take your time. You need to be well. I’m fine.”

“You’re not fine, though.”

Heart of a Wolf
By CJ Ravenna

Viking Wolves, Book 1

How to get over a breakup:
1: Go to Iceland
2: Get sent back in time
3: Get abducted by a hot, moody Viking werewolf
The tour guides sure didn’t prepare me for this…

Kieran

After my boyfriend cheats, my best friend spirits me away to Reykjavik for a scenic getaway. I think this may be just the escape I need to get over the jerk.

What was supposed to be a beautiful boat cruise ends in chaos when I find myself transported to the age of the Vikings. Before I can catch my breath, I’m taken captive by Wulfric, a powerful and terrifying Viking warrior. But he’s not just a fearsome fighter. He and his clan are Ulfhednar, wolf shifters.

Humans are the natural enemies of Wulfric’s pack and the longer I linger in his time, the more dangerous my already precarious situation becomes. Despite our mutual dislike, Wulfric vows he will keep me alive until I can return to my time… but only if I let him claim me as his mate.

Turns out, there’s a thin line between love and hate. Passion erupts, burning hot enough to melt the glaciers. As I see a soft and loving side to this strong, wounded warrior, I begin to wonder just where it is I call home.

Can Wulfric’s past be my new present?

Heart of a Wolf is book 1 in the Viking Wolves series and features enemies-to-lovers, mating of convenience, a dash of time travel, mental health rep (PTSD and GAD), and a happy-ever-after.

Excerpt from Heart of a Wolf:

Gods above. That bronze hair and icy eyes, his angular jawline and pert nose. He’s beautiful and strong all at once—and he’s mine. I never thought I’d find him. I thought those who believed I was too young and inexperienced to lead my pack were right all along. I feared I had disappointed the gods and so they had cursed me to be alone forever.

“Do you know how long I’ve waited for you?” I ask, my voice soft and low, the tone one I’ve only ever reserved for prayer to my gods. “Each night, I prayed to every god I know to send you to me. And they did. At last, they did.”

His eyes are impossibly wide. “Okay. Sure. Whatever you say, man.”

Not exactly the confession of love I wanted to hear, but mayhap he’s only shy. Still, his voice is lovely. I don’t like the way he looks at me, though, like he thinks I’m going to hurt him. As if I could ever lay a hand on someone fated for me. Doesn’t he feel the same pull I feel toward him? Can’t he hear the song between our wolves, telling us our hearts are finally one? Even if he lost his furs and can’t shift, he should still be able to feel that connection. I will hunt a wolf for him, skin it, and drape the furs over his shoulders myself if that’s what he needs to understand our bond.

Clearing my throat as if to purge the doubts from my body, I say, “I brought you some meat.” My wolf rumbles in my chest, pleased we could provide. It’s not the same as hunting for him myself, but a proper courtship can wait until we’re back in the village. I set the plate at his feet. “It’s not much, I know. But I promise you when we return to the village, I will hunt the biggest, most powerful of beasts and lay it at your feet.”

Kieran looks from the plate to me, mistrust turning those blue eyes to shards of ice. “What do you want from me?”

So many things. To have him on his back beneath me, taking my cock. To hear him gasp and moan as he bares his throat to me and begs me for my bite. To taste his blood as I bite down, our bond wrapping around my heart like golden threads. I run my knuckles down his freckled cheek. “Share my furs tonight, and you will know all the ways in which I want you.”

His breath catches. Arousal spikes in his scent, and it takes everything I have not to hurl myself on him, tear his clothes from his body, and take him until we’re both spent. I can’t wait until the mating ceremony. Tradition be damned. I must have him.

Curling my fingers gently in his hair, I pull him close.

Then Kieran yanks out of my touch. “Touch me again, and I’ll bite your fucking balls off.”

Blog Tour, Excerpt & Giveaway: Once Upon A Goth Dog Solstice By R.L. Merrill

Once Upon A Goth Dog Solstice
By R.L. Merrill

Once Upon A Holiday, Book 8

From the author of the award-winning novel You Can Do Magic: Carnival of Mysteries and Publishers Weekly's BookLife quarterfinalist Earthquake Ethan comes a heartwarming holiday tale of found family and sacrifice. Two wildly opposite veterans connect over a shared love of art, rescue dogs, and a very special foster child.

Doug Cross spent the first half of his life attempting to appease his career-military father. After a stint in the Air Force and a successful career in cybersecurity, he’s traveled the world in search of fulfillment. He believes he’s found it in the San Francisco Bay Area with a room on an urban farm, a new spot in a goth punk band, and the support of his extended family. He’s always been a helper by nature, so when he learns that his housemate’s dog rescue is in trouble, he creates goth-influenced dog accessories to sell at the Treasure Island Arts and Crafts Fair in hopes of raising much-needed funds for the pups. He also lends a helping hand to his neighbor at the fair, and the two have a potential meet-cute…that quickly fizzles, leaving Doug wondering why his charming personality failed to make a new friend.

Luther Sorenson is a disabled Marine veteran who is struggling to keep his family afloat—and himself literally on his feet. His sister convinces him to sell his wood paintings at the fair as a way to supplement his income. He’s a single foster dad to eight-year-old Mila and is desperate to give her everything she deserves. His body doesn’t always cooperate, however, and having to ask for help from the goth guy next door at the art market could have potentially been humiliating. But Doug makes it easy, and Luther can’t stop thinking about him in between markets. Doug seems like the kind of person Luther could add to his support network. Not to mention, his superb makeup skills and the way he rocks a utilikilt have Luther smitten in no time.

A brunch “business meeting” turns into adult summer camp, and Doug and Luther embark on a tentative courtship while navigating the challenges of parenthood and owning a small business. But as the seasons change, the two men find in each other what they’ve always desired: love, family, and acceptance. On the night of the winter solstice, will they choose to combine forces and step into the unknown together?

Once Upon A Goth Dog Solstice is a part of the multi-author series Once Upon a Holiday Story. Each book can be read as a standalone and in any order. What links these books together is The Hook’s Book Nook Traveling Library, a library on wheels owned by two old ladies in love.

Excerpt from Once Upon A Goth Dog Solstice:

“Dougie! You’ve got customers!”

Dinah was bouncing on her toes as two women stood at their designated pay station, their arms loaded with collars, bodysuits, and dog bowls. They each held leashes with black and white King Charles Cavaliers attached. Such cute pups. Doug had always been a big animal lover, and living with the Shaw sisters had been paradise. Between the farm animals and the foster dogs, there was always a critter to cuddle with, something he desperately needed in his life. Who could survive without cuddles?

“Awesome. Would you like any of that personalized?”

“Oh my goodness, yes, please! Could you? For Mugsy and Mojo?”

Doug grinned at the names. “Absolutely.” He went around the table to the station he’d set up for personalizing. It was behind their booth, so he didn’t get paint anywhere it shouldn’t be. “We can put them aside to dry, and you can come back before you leave the market to pick them up.”

They were thrilled. Doug got to work with his airbrush, adding their names in script to the two bodysuits. Then he did the collars and the bowls. He was so busy, he didn’t notice that the neighbor was standing behind his booth, watching him.

He removed his mask and started to say something, but then his neighbor had a customer. Before he knew it, Doug had spent the two hours personalizing items for their customers.

“Phew,” Dinah said as she took a drink of her homebrewed peach tea. “It’s only eleven forty-five and we’ve already sold out of bodysuits and bowls.”

Doug stood to look at their inventory, and he wrinkled his nose. “That sucks. I mean, I’m glad we sold a lot, but I hate to see empty shelves. Hey, if you don’t mind staying out there, let me get out those doggie t-shirts I ordered and I’ll start airbrushing them. They’ll dry quick and we can hang those up. Hopefully those will be popular too.”

Dinah looked down the aisle to see that Cecily had two customers. “Let me just check with Cecily. Maybe we should think about combining our booths so I can help both of you.”

“Or we could clone you,” Doug said with a shrug. “I swear, I’ll have way more stock next time. At least we know the stuff sells.”

Dinah squeezed his shoulder. “You are a gift, Doug. With this money, we can afford for Marianne to do more rescue flights, and we won’t have to max out the credit cards to keep the fosters fed, not to mention the vet bills. That last litter of pups we took in all had respiratory infections, and that cost a pretty penny in medication.”

“You guys are doing such great work. I’m happy to contribute whatever I can. The fruits of my labor are yours.”

“At least there are some perks to the job. You get to pet cute pups all day,” she said, as Doug’s gaze drifted once more to their sullen neighbor.

He didn’t interact with the customers unless they specifically asked him questions, but he seemed to have a steady stream of folks admiring his work. Doug started picturing ways to highlight the gorgeous paintings. Weave green moss into the mesh he’d used to hang the paintings; add some fairy lights, especially since it was darker in the back corners, which made it difficult to see the intricate details in his paintings. Doug wanted to offer suggestions, but he doubted they would be welcome.

It took him another two hours to spray paint the dog shirts he’d brought, and by the time he had them all hung up, the rest of his inventory was sold out, and Dinah’s treats were gone as well. She’d gone over to help Cecily, who was also just about out of soaps and lotions. This was wild. Doug was wondering how much money they’d made versus their costs—

“Oh, rats. I’m so sorry!”

Doug turned to look into his neighbor’s booth in time to see that a woman had bumped the mesh and one of the panels had pulled away from the canopy, which caused a few of the smaller paintings to fall onto the ground. The man was trying to hold up the mesh and bend down to pick up the paintings at the same time. The woman was older and distracted, and she wandered away from the booth to leave the owner to deal with her clumsy mess.

“How can I help?” He reached for the mesh. The guy made what Doug thought might be an appreciative grunt? If that was a thing. But then he bent down to pick up the paintings, and he cried out, his hand going to his lower back again as he caught himself on a table with his forearm. Sweat broke out on his forehead.

“Oh man, leave those. I’ll grab them.” Doug managed to get the mesh fastened quickly, and he went to the guy’s side. “Let me help you,” he said softly.

He could tell his neighbor didn’t want to accept his help, but he dropped his left hand into Doug’s extended right one, clasped it hard, and leaned heavily on Doug to climb back to his feet.

“Can you get me to the trailer? Please?”

That soft voice attempted to hide the pain this man was in, and Doug wanted to give him his dignity however he could. He helped the man to the back of his booth and over to the doors of the trailer. The man used his keys to open the padlock while leaning on Doug, and then he opened the doors. He turned and took Doug’s other arm so he could lower himself to a sitting position on the trailer’s ledge.

“What can I get you? Ice? Water? Some anti-inflammatories?”

The guy was taking shallow breaths. He pointed to a water bottle on the back table of his booth. Doug reached for it and handed it over. The guy took a sip and then a few deep breaths.

“You okay for a second? Let me go grab those paintings.”

Doug went to step away, but the guy kept hold of his arm for a minute. “Thank you,” he said, locking Doug in place with those sharp eyes.

Whenever I put up a funny two-star review, I dream of the guy who might be at home reading it, but pretty sure the kind of man who reads me, is probably living in his mother’s basement. Still, I’m a romantic at heart. Someday I might just run into him in one of my stories.
Someday.

“I’m gonna need another painkiller, Trigg.”
“Yeah, come on. Let me get you back in bed and then I’ll get you some.” We walked back into the front room, and I spotted Stanley, once again curled up in the same spot in the middle of the bed.
I laughed. I couldn’t help myself.
“What’s so funny?” He grunted as we walked.
“I just moved him out of that spot a minute ago. Hang on.” I helped him to the bed and waited until he was sitting on the edge of it before grabbing the kitten. Stanley protested but I ignored him, putting him on my chair, and then coming back to Raven. “Let me grab that T-shirt for you.” I helped him pull it over his head. “Come on. Let’s get you comfortable and then I’ll get those meds.”
“Jesus, I feel terrible that you have to nurse me like this,” he said as I repositioned him, fluffing pillows behind him so he could lean back.
I grunted. “I’m worried if you don’t have anyone at home to take care of you,” I said, shaking a couple of pills out into my hand. “You said you weren’t married. Girlfriend?” I knew better but I couldn’t help but want to dig for more information.
“No girlfriend, Trigg,” Raven said, taking the edge of the quilt I was pulling up over him. “I’m gay, but I guess you know that.”
“How would I know that?” I asked, busying myself with opening the second pill bottle.
He reached out and caught my hand, stopping my actions. I looked up and met his dancing gaze. “By how you reacted there, in the bathroom.”
“I didn’t—”
“Come here.” He tugged on my hand, pulling me until I was leaning over him. “Closer.”
“Raven.”
“Are you going to make me beg for it?”
“For what?”
His cobalt blue eyes danced. “A kiss, you idiot.”
I smirked…a second before I leaned all the way down…and kissed him.

Excerpt:

Langdon was putting the bottles into a case when he heard a loud crash. It made him jump, causing him to smash his head on the low ceiling of the room. He was dazed for a second before he turned and headed toward the commotion, worried he’d stacked the crates wrong and they’d fallen. What he found was the hottest guy he’d ever seen in his life, sprawled on his back with bottles rolling around him. The guy had bright ginger hair, dazzling blue eyes, and a beard which was just long enough for Langdon to run his fingers through as he rocked him to sleep after fucking the guy into oblivion. Okay, maybe it had been too long since he’d had a redhead: Langdon’s kryptonite.

“Are you okay?”

“I think so.” The guy groaned and made to get up. Langdon held out his hand, which the redhead took. He was wearing a tight T-shirt. There was nothing larger than a medium here – deliberately, knowing Joey. Langdon was the exception, as a medium wouldn’t cover one bicep. It was snug on the guy and hugged his belly. Another big turn on for Langdon. He might have a muscular physique himself, but he liked his men to have proper bodies. Langdon imagined running his tongue all over the guy’s soft belly, then snapped out of it when he realised he was still holding the stranger’s hand. Stranger? What was a stranger doing in their cellar? Then it dawned on Langdon; he was fantasising about his boss’s younger brother. Well, that was inappropriate.

Langdon yanked Eric up, a bit too hard. He crashed into Langdon and then didn’t move. In fact, Langdon felt Eric’s hands gently caress his pecs. He raised an eyebrow and Eric stepped back, going bright red. On his pale skin, it was a beautiful flush. Langdon wondered what else he could do to make Eric turn that colour, and how far down it went. Langdon needed to stop those thoughts. He was aware Eric was bisexual because Joey had mentioned it before, but he’d just been about to get married. The last thing he needed was Langdon creeping on him. Given there was now a sensible distance between them, Langdon offered his hand again.

“I’m Langdon. You must be Eric? Your brother asked me to sort you out.”

“What?” spluttered Eric.

Langdon’s face felt like he’d just looked into an active volcano, but then he couldn’t help but laugh.

“Sorry, what I mean is . . .” He doubled over, laughing again.

Eric smiled, looking mildly amused, but didn’t seem to find the faux pas as funny as Langdon did.

“Joey asked me to help you get settled, so you’ll be working with me tonight.”

“Lucky me!”

Langdon flushed again. Was Eric flirting with him? He shook that thought out of his head. Eric was Joey’s brother, so he was family, and therefore off limits.
