The Harder We Fall
By Rebecca Raine

THWF - Final Cover

For years, I’ve been bound by sleeplessness and sorrow.
His voice threatens to set me free.

Insomnia. It’s part of the penance I pay for my greatest mistake. But when an ill-timed doze behind the wheel of my car nearly introduces me to a pole, I know something has to change.

Sleep with Me, a locally-made meditation app, promises a cure. I don’t expect it to work. Nor do I expect to become enthralled by the voice of its creator, Sam Stephenson. His ability to coax forth my nightly surrender is unnerving. I have to meet this man and learn the secret behind his techniques, so I can evict him from my head—and still get a good night’s sleep.

In person, the quiet and reclusive Sam is his own kind of complicated. He needs my business skills as much as I need his meditation skills and we forge an unlikely partnership. But the attraction between us soon flares into passion and, as we grow closer, I start to long for more than my guilty conscience will allow.

I have no right to love, not after the damage I’ve done. How can I give Sam all he deserves, when our chance at a happy ending was ruined before we even met?

Excerpt:

“You know, openly gay men don’t usually spend so much time in a closet.”

He grins, glancing at the walls surrounding us. “It never occurred to me to spend time in the metaphorical closet. Mum accepted me, I assumed others would, too. Which hasn’t always been the case, but I have no regrets there.” His eyebrows lift in question. “What about you?”

“For a while,” I say with a shrug. “Then I got caught kissing a boy while drunk at a high school party. There wasn’t much point denying it after that?”

“Did the other students give you a hard time?”

A bitter laugh bubbles up through my chest but I tamp it down. “Sometimes. But they had better reasons to hate me. I was used to people talking behind my back, staring when I walked past. Being out didn’t change my life overly much.”

Sam frowns as he puts a hand over mine on my knee. The questions are there in his eyes. Why did people hate you? What happened? What did you do?

His mouth opens, but I beat him to the punch. “You use this place for more than recording now?”

He stops, and then a barely perceptible nod acknowledges my right to keep my past to myself. “I do,” he says, looking around the room. “There’s so much I struggle to do. Talking to new people, going out, doing stuff. It’s tiring, always having to work so hard to do things other people do without thought. When I’m in here, I can just be.” He smiles, and there’s an ease to it I’ve never seen before.

“When you’re leading your class, you make it seem so easy. Sitting there, being you. Like nothing can touch you.”

He watches me for a long moment. “Your thoughts can’t hurt you, Tristan. Not by themselves.” He’s said those words to me before, but apparently I need reminding.

“My thoughts could,” I whisper. “If I let them. I’m not brave like you.”

Both our hands are joined now, our fingers threaded together over my knees. This time, the tremor isn’t coming from his side. Why am I saying these things? He brought me here to show me his sanctuary, and I’m treating it like a confessional.

“You are brave,” he says with quiet insistence. “I know you’re scared. But you’re here, asking for help when you need it. That’s brave.” A new depth has crept into his tone as we’ve talked. A commanding gentleness I recognise.

“Your voice…” I take a shaky breath, my mouth twitching at the corners. “My siren has arrived.”

His expression turns bashful as he ducks his head. “I didn’t mean to.”

“No, don’t stop.” My grip on him tightens. “Please.”

Meeting my gaze, he nods. “It doesn’t usually happen spontaneously. Only when I’m recording or teaching a class. It’s this place, I suppose. I feel safe here.” As he speaks, his thumbs stroke my palms and I shiver.

“Having me here doesn’t spoil the feeling?”

“No.” A touch of awe glints in the blue. “I think, maybe, I feel safe with you, too.”

I don’t move when he lets go of my hands and raises up off the cushion so he can scoot closer. I don’t move when he extends his legs over my still folded ones, so his calves bracket my hips and his feet touch down behind me. He’s not actually in my lap, his arse is still on the floor in front of me, but it’s a close thing.

I don’t move as he reaches out to touch my cheeks, stroking his thumbs over them. My own hands remain on my knees, my fingers digging in there. I don’t move, but my heart is a wild thing in my chest and my breathing is laboured. Shudders rack my body as he brushes his nose against mine. When his breath fans across my lips, I still don’t move. But I close my eyes, and I wait.

His closed lips touch mine. They’re soft and tentative. Barely pressing against me. They’re hopeful lips, in search of a response.

I move to give him one.

Cover Reveal Excerpt:

“There’s an extra gun taped under the desk in the office of my suite. I assume you know how it works. Keep it in your hand while I’m gone and don’t open the door to anyone but me. My room has a private elevator, so I’m not sure how you planned to get there, but we’ll discuss that when I get back. We’ll discuss a lot of things when I get back.”

Sam straightened from the man and his intoxicating smell. Brayden looked Sam in the eye for a long time before finally nodding slowly. Sam hadn’t known he was holding his breath until it came out in a quiet, relieved whoosh.

He wasn’t sure why he cared so much. The only thing he could come up with was that this kid was Mase’s little brother. Even though Mase’s family had turned their backs on him, he wouldn’t want any harm to come to his sibling. Sam would make sure nothing happened to Brayden...for Mase.

“I don’t know what you thought you were walking into, but you just became my arm candy. Hope that doesn’t bother you,” Sam said. “Don’t say your brother’s name in the hotel room.”

Sam leaned in and pressed a small kiss to Brayden’s mouth. His lips were soft as velvet. When he gasped, Sam was so tempted to take just a little taste. He came to his senses at the last minute and pulled back. Brayden’s eyes were wide with shock as Sam turned and walked past.

Ax kept shooting Sam glances as they walked to the valet. Sam shook his head. Ax might have taken it as ‘don’t talk now’ or ‘no, I don’t forgive you.’ Sam didn’t care. It was a little bit of both.

As they reached the door of the hotel, Sam looked back. Brayden was still standing there, facing away from them, his hand over his mouth. If he was straight, the kid was probably mortified—maybe even disgusted. If he was gay or bi... Sam didn’t even want to finish that thought.

Outback Boys, Book 2

Standoffish Aiden is content keeping people at a distance and ensuring his boundaries are impenetrable. There’s safety in not opening up, but there’s also a loneliness he doesn’t realise exists until he meets Riley, a new member of the LGBTQI+ adventure group Outback Boys.

Fascinated by the new guy, Aiden is quick to discover his flirtation skills are rusty and his sweet-talking is cringeworthy. But sweet and clumsy Riley doesn’t seem to mind so much.

Even though Riley doesn’t quite know how to handle Aiden’s intensity, he’s willing to step out of his comfort zone and see how their tentative friendship unravels.

Between a surf lesson that resembles a kangaroo on acid and paddle boarding that is trickier than walking a tightrope, Aiden and Riley discover love may be a possibility after all.

Happiness relies on honesty and openness, though. And with both men holding on tightly to past struggles, their future together is at risk. Can the two Aussies bounce back and heal themselves and each other, or are some wounds too raw to recover from?

Outback Boys is a sweet and sexy M/M romance series complete with bruised butts, rope burn, and overworked muscles… all in the pursuit of adventure, of course!

Trigger Warning: Contains themes (discussions) of mental health and suicide.

Excerpt:

“It’ll be fun, they said. You’ll feel good, they said. By the end of the day, you’ll be lucky to be alive, said no bloody one.” I wheezed out each word between heavy pants of breath. But it was no good. I had to stop before I collapsed and my red face finally caught fire and lit up the whole damn gorge.

A few steps ahead of me, Pete stopped and took in our surroundings. “Come on, Riley. There’s a spot just around the curve of this trail where we’re stopping for lunch.”

I paused, grateful for the short reprieve, and eyed him suspiciously. “You said that an hour ago.”

The arsewipe grinned. “This time I’m not lying.”

I heard movement behind me and angled back. Another cluster from our group came up from behind, which made me feel marginally better. I wasn’t the last. “Fine, but I swear, if you’re jacking me around, I’m dumping your swag in the river.”

Pete snorted before turning back to the narrow dirt path and trekking on. Reluctantly I followed, knowing I had little choice but to finish the circuit. I had no idea how far we’d walked of the eighteen-kilometre route, but that last incline almost did me in.

Attempting to regulate my breathing, I focused on the inhale and the exhale. I can do this. I really hoped so anyway.

It had taken Pete, one of my workmates, at least nine months to talk me into finally joining the group for a trial weekend. He’d promised me it was the perfect place for beginners, and while he hadn’t said the words “especially if you’re unfit,” I knew that was pretty much the implication. But hell, if this was easy, I really was in worse shape than I thought.

As we reached the bend in the pathway, I closed my eyes briefly and sent up a silent prayer to whoever was looking down at me. All I needed was fifteen minutes, or maybe an hour—actually, half a day would be even better—to regroup and carry on. Once around the rock wall, relief caressed me. About fifteen guys were spread out on the flattened area of grass next to a small creek, with some of the group perched on large rocks. Most of the men wore tees sporting the Outback Boys logo, Pete included. His was red and clung to his fit body well. The jury was still out about whether I’d be joining at this point. My main mission at the moment was surviving this bloody hike.

Blank and Blue, Book 2

Levi Black has mostly recovered from the events of a year ago. The only lingering effects are that he’s much more well known in York than he’d like to be, and he’s a lot more cautious about walking around his house naked. However, those events brought him the capricious and fascinating Blue, so he’s not complaining. On the contrary, he’s happy, in love, and looking forward to Blue finally moving in with him. And if sometimes he wonders what Blue sees in a boring cartoonist, he keeps that to himself.

Blue Billings is finally ready to throw off the memories of his past and move in with the person who means the most in the world to him. His psychic abilities have grown in the last year to his mentor Tom's consternation, but Blue is determined to look on the bright side. He’s also focused on ignoring all the warning signs that he’s received lately.

However, even deeply buried secrets have a way of rising to the surface. And when a surprise from Blue’s past turns up and draws them away to a lonely house on the Yorkshire moors, Levi and Blue must fight for their survival once again.

From bestselling author, Lily Morton, comes the second book in the Black and Blue series. The books should be read in order.

Excerpt:

It’s ten in the morning before I remember the old man from last night. I’m unpacking a new box of books, sitting cross-legged on the floor in the book shop surrounded by stacks of books and bubble wrap, while Tom sits at the counter clutching his ever-present cup of tea with his face screwed up into grumpy lines.

“I’m just saying that you’re opening yourself up too much, Blue.”

“That’s never been a complaint before,” I say lightly, grinning up at him as he rolls his eyes.

“Lovely as this glimpse is into your private affairs, I must move you on.”

“Private affairs? I’m not Prince Charles.”

“And that’s a shame. That lad talks to plants. You struggle with humans.”

I shake my head. “I’m pretty sure that comment wasn’t meant for me. Know yourself.”

“I’m very good with humans.”

“What about yesterday?” I say, putting down my scissors and staring at him. “I’m pretty sure it was you who told the lady asking if we took cash that you weren’t the Bank of England.”

“You’ve been dreaming again.”

I roll my eyes. “If I’m dreaming about you, I definitely need to get some professional help.”

He huffs and helps himself to another biscuit from the Incredible Disappearing Biscuit Tin. I don’t know where the fuck he hides that thing. One minute he’s chomping down on a Hob Nob, then I come to take a biscuit, and it’s gone. Vanished.

I eye him affectionately. This crotchety old man is one of the most important people in my life. I’ve known him since I was a scrawny, scared kid who hitchhiked my way to York and never left, pinned here by a sense that I’d found my place. Tom never asked questions, just fed me and then later on when he revealed himself to be psychic too, he became my mentor. Sort of like Alec Guinness as Ben Kenobi, but with very poor people skills. Tom and my best friend, Will, are only topped by Levi. No one will ever shift Levi from heading the list of my most favourite people in the world.

Excerpt:

I pulled my attention back to Hunter, remembering our game. "Okay, I have another one for you. I slept with a teddy bear until I was twelve."

He nodded solemnly. "Respect. I'll take your teddy bear story and do you one better. I took my baby blanket to college with me."

I chuckled at the idea of a college freshman carting around a baby blanket. "I call bullshit. Sorry, but there is no way."

Smirking, Hunter held up a Boy Scout salute. "I swear, I totally did. My mom made it into a pillow. There were many long nights when I was homesick and would lie in bed hugging it. Next time you're at my house, remind me, and I'll show it to you."

"I hope you know I'm going to remember. This one I have to see." As the music stopped and the pastor began to speak, I lowered my voice. "Okay, this might be a little personal, but I have a good one for you. I only wear underwear with funny phrases printed on them."

"Seriously? Like what kinds of things do your underwear say?" Was it my imagination, or was Hunter staring at my crotch? "And more importantly, why do you prefer silly underwear?"

Leaning back, I lifted a brow as imperiously as I could manage. When he started to laugh, I played it up, pressing a hand to my heart and pretending to be appalled. "Dude, are you judging my underwear choices? I mean, nobody would think twice if I said I liked to wear lacy drawers. Or if boxers made my heart sing. Hell, I know plenty of guys who wear nothing but jockstraps. Is it really so wrong I would want to wear funny underwear?"

Hunter rolled his eyes. "Don't try to guilt me, Quinn. I have a sister, remember? I can play the guilt game all day. Now spill… tell me what your underwear says right now."

"I mean, I could…" I stood, looking around to make sure nobody could see us. Yeah, we were far enough back, and the railing was so tall, I'd be hidden from view. Especially since we were sitting in the shadows. I swallowed nervously but played it off, glancing back at Hunter. "Or… I could show you?"

Hunter nodded decisively. The guy didn't even take a second to think, immediately earning him several more points in my respect bank. "Yes, drop those pants. Show me what you're hiding underneath to make me laugh."

I'd already started loosening my belt, but I stopped when he spoke, choking on laughter. "Really? You're going to tell a man to drop his pants so you can mock what he's got covered up?"

He flashed me a playful wink. "Damn right I am. You started it, buster. Now drop trou."

I let my pants fall around my ankles and lifted my dress shirt so he could get the full view. With one glance, he started guffawing so hard he nearly choked. My hot pink bikini briefs with the Eat at BJ's Diner sign did look pretty great over my junk. He was laughing so hard tears streamed down his face, but he dropped to his knees and leaned in to read the fine print at the bottom of the sign.

He was so close, his warm breath fanned over my legs. My dick woke up, thickening and hardening in my underwear with every second he was down there. He read the words aloud. "Come and try our cream pie." I waited for him to start chuckling again, but instead, he stroked my growing bulge. "I have another random fact nobody knows about me. I've always wanted to do a sexual act in an inappropriate public place."

I couldn't help but be charmed. Seriously, could this guy be any more perfect? Grinning down at him, I shook my head. "And to think I almost wore my rainbow-colored briefs with All Sass, No Ass printed on the butt. But I had a feeling these were the underwear to wear today, and apparently I was right. My mom was correct—always follow your gut and you won't go wrong."

About the Author

As an avid reader and big romance fan myself, I love sharing the stories of the different people who live in my imagination. My stories are filled with humor, a few tears, and the underlying message to not give up hope, even in the darkest of times, because life can change on a dime when you least expect it. This theme comes from a lifetime of lessons learned on my own hard journey through the pains of poverty, the loss of more loved ones than I'd care to count, and the struggles of living through chronic illnesses. Life can be hard, but it can also be good! Through it all I've found that love, laughter, and family can make all the difference, and that's what I try to bring to every tale I tell.

I'm a happily married mom with one snarky teenage boy, and three grown "kids of my heart." I'm more widely known for my mpreg writings as Susi Hawke; this new name is a departure from that. Whether written by Susan or Susi, the books are filled with that all-important love, laughter, and family I mentioned; the only difference is that this name has no male pregnancy. I look forward to sharing my stories with you, and to bringing more romance and laughter into this world that needs it so very badly.

By K. Webster

Shift of Morals Cover

From USA Today Bestselling Author K Webster comes an angst-filled, steamy age-gap MM shifter standalone romance!

***This is the fifth book to release in the Kingdom of Wolves collection but is a COMPLETE STANDALONE. It’s meant to be read on its own and is a full story with a happily ever after.***

I found him when he was a boy.
Bloody. Mangled. Near death.
If I’d been a merciful alpha, I would’ve snapped his neck and ended him right then.

Except, I didn’t.
Something in his big brown eyes tugged at my heart strings.
I kept him. Healed him. Raised him to be fierce, loyal, and brave.

Now that he’s an adult, everything’s changing.
He’s no longer the soft, scared beta I once thought he was.
No, there’s an uncontrollable anger inside him.
A rage-filled hate I don’t understand.

As a dangerous pack begins tormenting us and destroying our home, I feel him pulling from me as he seeks justice.
He thirsts for revenge, even if it means leaving our pack and going solo.
But, as his alpha, I won’t let him go without a fight.

Each time he pushes, I pull him right back to me.
I’ll keep him locked in my arms or pinned beneath me forever if that’s what it takes to keep him.
A shift of morals has begun.
One I don’t understand, but certainly don’t resist.

I’m the most powerful wolf on Beacon Island. I don’t have weaknesses.
Until now.
This wild, reckless young man changed everything when he stole my heart.

This book is a steamy standalone MM age-gap shifter romance. No other books need to be read before or after this one as it is a complete story.

“I’m sorry,” I manage to choke out, brows furrowed as I cup his face. “I shouldn’t have...I didn’t mean to...”

He gives a shake of his head. Since he’s not signing to me, I assume he doesn’t want to elaborate. It takes everything in me to release his face and drop my hands at my side.

“Are you okay? Did I hurt you?”

His hands lift as he signs out his response. I’m fine. Just... He pauses, his entire body flinching as his eyes glaze over.

I grip his jaw, tilting his head up so he’s forced to look into my eyes, not go wherever it is he’d been moments before. At least with his eyes on me they’re not so fucking sad and leaking devastated tears. I’m unable to stop the sweep of my thumb over his jaw. This time my hand slides to his throat, not to keep him at bay, but to inspect the damage I may have caused.

“This hurt?” I ask, my tone gruff as I rub my thumb over his scarred skin.

He shakes his head and bites down on his pink lip. I’ve never been so fixated on him before, and it’s alarming. I vaguely sense concern trickling through the bond from the others, but it’s muted as all focus is on Remy.

I have the urge to inspect every inch of him, hunting for bruises or cuts that need tending to. It’s disturbing considering it’s Remy. I can’t shake it, though. My eyes once again lock on to his dark ones. They flicker back and forth between confusion and curiosity—a ping pong match of emotions.

His palm touches the middle of my bare chest. My heart reacts with a racing gallop, thundering so loud, it’s as though it wants to deafen me. Small fingers that are often stained in ink from his writing gently press into my flesh, warm and so damn soft. The wolf in me wants to drag his palm to my face so I can scent him, so I can forever memorize the way he smells.

Why?

Because he’s mine.

The wolf agrees with a snuffle.

He’s part of my pack. They’re all mine. We’re a family.

Remy’s fingertips drift down between my pecs, drawing a strangled sound from my throat. It’s as though fire surges from him, scalding a pathway south. He stops his trail to just above my navel, and the wolf in me growls in annoyance.

Why am I annoyed?

My brain catches up, and I realize I have Remy—Remy for fuck’s sake—damn near pinned against the bathroom wall as he pets me. It feels wrong and twisted. A ragged breath tears through my lungs. I grip his wrist, stopping him from going any lower.

Because...

Would he try? Would I want him to?

Not So Sincerely, Yours
By A.M. Johnson

Not So Sincerely, Yours Cover

For Him, Book 2

Ethan,
About last night... I could blame the bourbon. I could say I let things get out of hand, that I should have never called you, but I'm done lying to myself—to you. I know what you're going to say. You're not very good at keeping your opinions to yourself, but this can't happen. It's inappropriate, at best. I'm your boss. Not to mention, you're clearly still hung up on him. I'm not a consolation prize.

Anders~

**

Anders,
You didn't think it was inappropriate when you had your tongue down my throat, but I digress. As for your accusation, I'm not the only one stuck in the past, but at least I'm not running from it. I can't believe I'm about to say this… Maybe you're right. You shouldn’t have called me. Especially if you never intended to own it. Own that you wanted it to happen. Admit that you wanted me.

Not so sincerely,
Yours

Release Blitz Excerpt:

“You’re early,” he said, his voice smooth and bored.

He didn’t spare me a glance as he pulled keys from his pocket and opened the door.

My jaw ached as I gritted my teeth. “Early? You told me to be here at seven.”

“Did I?” he asked, and I could hear the fucking humor in his voice.

“Yeah…” Asshole. “You did.”

I followed him into the office, the lights automatically illuminating as we stepped inside. The place was nice, not as cold as I assumed it would be. Instead of glass and metal, everything was warm wood and earth tones.

“Office hours are nine to four. Kris used to show up around eight-thirty,” he said, leaning against the only desk in the lobby. “This is your workspace. I’ll get your log-in information when you get back.”

I took a calming breath. “Back from where?”

“The Starbucks two blocks west from here.” His lips lifted more on the right side of his mouth, his grin crooked. He was enjoying himself at my expense. “Americano for me, and you can get whatever you want within reason. Here…” He reached into his bag while I seethed. No apology for making me sit in the damn cold for over an hour, nope, right to business. “This is the company card. I expect a receipt for any purchases you make for me or Lowe Literary.”

I took the card from his hand. “Receipts. Got it.”

His blue eyes traveled over my body slow and disapproving. I had on the best pair of jeans I owned and borrowed one of Jax’s polo shirts. I didn’t have the money for bullshit designer suits, but I cleaned up okay.

“You’re the face of Lowe Literary, Mr. Calloway. I expect you to dress like you give a shit.”

I huffed out a laugh. “Well, I expect a boss who shows up on time.”

“I was on time.” Arrogant as hell, he slipped his hand into his slacks.

“Why did you tell me seven if we don’t open until nine?” I asked, ignoring his confident glare.

He hesitated, and I wondered what bullshit excuse he was about to give me when he surprised me with the truth. “Initiation. Payback. Perhaps a bit of both.”

I understood the payback part. I’d be pissed if I caught strangers fucking in my house too. But initiation? Like what? Hazing?

“Look, I’m sorry about—”

He raised his hand, silencing me. “You’re here because Wilder asked me to help out his friend. Apologies are unnecessary. This isn’t about you. It’s best if you remember that. Show up. Do your job. And there won’t be a problem.”

Before I had a chance to reply, he walked away and disappeared down the hall. Furious, and feeling smaller than I ever had in my entire life, I contemplated quitting. I didn’t need to put up with his shit. I could be on site with Jax in an hour if I wanted. I slammed my eyes shut and tried to push down my anger and pride. This job would allow me the time I needed to do my schoolwork. And according to the nursing program advisor I’d spoken with last week, I had a shit ton of prerequisites I had to complete before I could even apply to the RN program. If it weren’t for Mr. Superiority Complex, this would be the chillest job I could find. And I’d never find a gig that paid me as well as this did. I groaned and pocketed the business credit card, hating the way Anders had me by the balls.
