Sporting Secrets, Book 2

Jacob Browne comes from rugby royalty but he’s never come close to being the heroic idol his father was on the rugby field. And now he’s failed off the field as well with the breakdown of his marriage. When his ex-wife hires a manny, it feels like the ultimate kick in the guts that another guy gets to spend more time with his kids than he does.

But when he actually meets Austin, the connection that grows between them upends everything Jacob thought he knew about himself and forces him to reconsider what it truly means to be a hero.

Excerpt:

“Are you okay if I ask Jen to babysit next Saturday night?”

My eyebrows knitted together. “Why, where’s Austin going to be?”

“Austin and I are going out together.”

My breath left me. It felt as if I’d been kicked in the guts. This is what I’d worried about right from the start. Matilda starting something with our ridiculously good-looking manny.

But now my guts were clenching not just because of my concern about the instability for the girls if Matilda started something with Austin. This was a whole other level of distress.

Hell. I scraped my hands through my hair.

Could I really blame Matilda for being attracted to Austin? No. Not when I suffered from the same affliction.

“Do you think that’s a good idea?” The words came out half strangulated.

Her forehead rumpled. “Why isn’t it a good idea?”

“I mean…I just don’t think it would be good for the girls…if you and Austin…”

Matilda’s frown morphed into a smirk. “Are you worried about me and Austin? Seriously?”

“I just don’t think it’s a good idea to get involved with our manny, that’s all.”

Matilda’s smirk remained. “I think you’ll find I’m lacking one major thing that Austin looks for in a partner.”

“What’s that?”

“A dick.”

My eyebrows flew up, and Matilda giggled.

“Oh my God, you should see the look on your face right now.”

I tried to keep my breathing even. “Austin’s gay?”

“Well done, I’m glad you managed to put those clues together.”

Fuck. My stomach was auditioning to be a somersault performer right now. At the same time, my heart raced harder than if I’d just played a full eighty minutes of a hard game.

Matilda’s smile faded. “What’s wrong? You’re not homophobic, are you?” Her eyes narrowed. “You can’t be. You’re fine with Beth and Charlotte.” She named her cousin and her cousin’s partner.

No, my physical reaction had nothing to do with the fact Austin was attracted to members of the same sex as him.

It was because the fact that I found him so attractive wasn’t quite as innocent anymore.

Yeah, I wasn’t exactly about to tell my soon-to-be ex-wife that.

“I’m not homophobic. What Austin does in his private life is his own business.”

“I totally agree. And that’s why I’m going to help him find someone,” she said. “I’m going to take him to the gay-friendly nightclubs and be his wingman. He deserves to have some fun. Hopefully he’ll manage to pull someone.”

My stomach twisted as I considered that possibility.

Of course he’d pull someone. Austin was gorgeous and charming and funny and sweet…yeah, that feeling inside me, the one that made me clench my teeth, it felt like…jealousy. And more than just mild jealousy. This was a fiery burn in my gut as I imagined Austin smiling at another guy.

Which I was fairly sure wasn’t what I was supposed to be feeling right now.

Release Tour, Excerpt & Giveaway: Hard Chrome By Anna Kensing

Release Tour, Excerpt & Giveaway:
Hard Chrome
By Anna Kensing

Neither time nor distance is on their side...

Twenty years ago, Dylan and Sebastian weren't ready for the feelings between them, but the death of Dylan’s father has brought them back together. Dylan lovingly restores classic cars and he's not keen on sharing his shop with his much younger lawyer stepbrother from the big city. But he doesn't want to dishonor his father's dying wish.

When Sebastian returns to Maine and learns of his inheritance, their passion flares into something neither of them is ready for.

Love requires sacrifice, but will either give up the life he’s built for a new life together?

Hard Chrome is a second chance, small town romance with an age gap between a hot-tempered mechanic and a cool-as-a-cucumber lawyer, competence kink (on both sides), a 1955 Ford Thunderbird in need of restoration, meddling best friends (and former best friends), a cat named Simone and a dog named Giles, at least three hundred houseplants, and car sex.

Excerpt:

Bas’s eyes flick down, and he turns the napkin wrap over on the table, then picks it up and peels the paper slip off. He spreads the paper napkin across his lap and sets his fork and knife a plate’s width apart. He nudges the knife so that its bottom edge is even with the fork, and Dylan’s now wondering whether his lame attempt at flirting is unwelcome, but then Bas looks back up at him.

“Speaking of restoring cars,” Bas says, like he’s steeling himself for announcing bad news.

Dylan braces himself for Bas’s answer about Dad’s will. He’ll turn the bequest down, of course. He has a life in California. No way is he going to drop everything and move to Greenville, Maine. Dad was crazy to put such a condition on the bequest.

Damn it, Dad, he thinks, but then he realizes that Bas has been speaking and he’s missed the first part of what he’s said.

“…if that’s okay with you,” he’s saying, and Dylan takes a gulp of his beer before shaking his head and focusing on Bas’s face.

“Sorry, what’d you say?”

“I said,” Bas says, and he’s looking at his sandwich instead of at Dylan, like he’s not sure he wants to see Dylan’s reaction. “I’d like to stay on for a while, if that’s okay with you. I don’t know much about the mechanical work, except for what you taught me.” And here he glances up. There’s something of the boy he used to be on his face. Shy and hesitant, but also eager to please. “But I’d like to learn, if you’re willing to teach me more.”

Jesus, he’s like a puppy begging for a scrap of attention. Dylan wants to ruffle that ridiculous hair but he keeps himself in check.

And if he’s going to look at Dylan with those puppy-dog eyes, how the fuck is Dylan going to resist doing whatever he asks?

Seasons Of The Likoi, Book 1

Sava has the best house in all of Lukos. He built it himself, dreaming of the day when he and Milan, the man he loved, could live there and brave the harsh winters of Lukos together—only to be devastated when Milan was found dead in the spring. Fraught with grief, Sava resigns himself to spending his winters alone.

Then a stranger appears on his doorstep, and everything changes.

Victor is a scholar from Gerakia, a land known for its long summers and vibrant history, and he has never been more unprepared in his life. Abandoned on the inhospitable island of Lukos after a disastrous relationship, Victor has to adapt quickly to survive. It helps, of course, that he’s taken in by Sava, who has the biggest heart of any man Victor has ever known. Victor and Sava start to make a home together, growing close as snow falls outside, but the true danger of a Lukos winter is closer than they suspect...

WOTO Teaser 1

Excerpt:

“Ah, Snow-Walker. You’re home. Good.” Dragan Wolf-Breaker, kuvar of the Lukoi, stood on Sava’s porch. He was a man of indiscriminate age, with thick, dark hair worn pulled back and braided out of his face and the pale, ice-blue eyes possessed by all those of his line. Wolf eyes, they were called, and according to some they was a sign he was meant to rule the Lukoi. He was clean-shaven, as most of them were before the snows, and dressed in simple leathers and fur, with high, sturdy boots topped with fur, a knife sheathed at his side.

Also at his side was a slight man Sava had never seen before. He had lovely reddish-brown skin, curly dark hair that was blowing about in the wind, and huge brown eyes flecked with gold and green—they reminded Sava of the hills right before winter took them, the faded grasses that looked so lovely in the light of the setting sun—over which he wore two pieces of round glass connected by a wire. He was shivering, dressed poorly in what appeared to be threadbare fabrics and a pair of boots that were too big for him. Sava thought he’d seen Elena—the kuvar’s daughter—wear those boots a time or two.

“Zora found a man,” Dragan said. “Let us come in before he freezes on your porch, Snow-Walker.”

Sava nodded and stepped back, and the pair entered the house. The shivering man with the messy hair looked longingly at the fire but seemed to shy away from going closer.

“Go and get warm.” Dragan pointed toward the fire, sounding perhaps a bit exasperated. His dominance was heavy enough that even Sava could feel it, and it made the young man sway a bit before he moved.

“Zora found him?” Sava asked, curious, as the man walked over and knelt before the fire, muttering in a language Sava didn’t know. “Where?”

“On the beach.” Dragan shrugged. “He was left by a boat. He’s a book-writer.”

“No, that word is wrong that I am,” the man said, glancing up, like he couldn’t help himself. He winced the second Sava and Dragan looked at him and immediately lowered his gaze, muttering something to the floor.

“Why would a boat leave a book-writer?” Sava asked. “It is soon to be winter. Snow says nothing; it is silent.”

The man’s head snapped up again, and he said something in a language Sava didn’t understand. At their blank looks, he added, “Those words pretty are.”

Sava glanced at Dragan, who shook his head. “He is from a place, Zora said, where they sit around in rooms and talk about other people.”

     “Why?”

“I don’t know,” Dragan said. “But he said he would be here unless another boat comes for him.”

“No boat will come here anytime soon,” Sava said, as the sky rumbled above them. “Only snow.”

“Yes. I think he was a problem. So, you know the laws, Sava.”

Sava did know the laws. There weren’t many, but one that all Lukoi adhered to was the one that kept their civilization in existence long after the country that exiled their ancestors to this snow-covered island had fallen into ruin: those exiled to die, survive. If someone had sent this man here to die, he was now one of them.

Release Blitz, Excerpt & Giveaway: Revolving Door By Vinni George

Release Blitz, Excerpt & Giveaway:
Revolving Door
By Vinni George

Open Doors, Book 2

Fletcher Morgan doesn’t like a single thing about Archer Waverly—not his pretty face, his wicked wit, or his perfect body. He especially hates the way Archer flirts with anyone and everyone. Everything about Archer reminds Fletcher of someone from his past he would much rather forget.

Archer thought Fletcher could be the silver fox of his dreams…until Fletcher opened his mouth and told Archer exactly how he felt about him. Now Archer is more than happy to rile Fletcher up and accept the consequences. Sparks fly every time they see each other proving hate is as potent as lust and enemies with benefits just might be better than friends with benefits.

When an unfortunate incident involving Archer’s aging drag queen housemate brings Archer and Fletcher together, they realize there might be more to the other than meets the eye and maybe there really is a thin line between love and hate.

Revolving Door is the second full-length novel in the Open Doors series featuring a slightly surly silver fox surf shop owner who refuses to fall in love again, a (mostly) reformed flirt who has never been in love, and a fabulous aging drag queen who has a penchant for platforms.

Excerpt:

Nine days out of ten, I thought the decision to move from San Francisco to San Diego had been an excellent life choice. The day I met Archer Waverly wasn’t one of those days.

The day started much like any other since I’d quit my corporate gig, divorced the man I’d thought was the love of my life, packed up my shit, sold my BMW and bought a used Jeep, and made a break for it—with yoga on the beach at sunrise followed by surfing.

Sam, a friend I’d made when I first bought Eddie’s, my surf shop, and Brody, another friend we’d made while surfing—us guys over thirty had to stick together—were already on the beach when I pulled into the parking lot. It was always easy to spot Brody because of his bright pink board, and it was the first thing I noticed as I scanned the beach, taking in the early morning crowd. All signs pointed to it being another beautiful day in SoCal.

I let Charlie, the aging chocolate Lab I’d rescued, out of the car, unloaded my gear, and waxed my board before traipsing down the beach to where my buddies were already starting to limber up. Brody was in downward dog by the time I stuck my board in the sand and greeted them. Charlie ran ahead to the water and halfheartedly chased the waves. At the core of his being, Charlie was lazy. He’d be curled up on the towel I’d brought for him in less than ten minutes.

“Fletcher. Good morning, sir. Looks like some choice swell out there today,” Brody said, his head still upside down between his legs.

“Morning.” Brody shifted into tree pose, the top of his wetsuit flapping around him as he moved.

“Hey, Fletch. Didn’t have the second cup of coffee this morning, huh?” Sam laughed at his own joke. He had some job that stressed him out, but he was always relaxed on the beach.

I used my middle finger to push my sunglasses to the top of my head.

“Further illustrating my point,” Sam said.

“I was completely out of coffee. I should have stopped,” I said as I laid out Charlie’s towel.

Sam made a sound in the affirmative and moved into a warrior pose. For a little while, the three of us moved through various poses in unison, having done a variation of this practice together often enough. The pinks and oranges of the morning sky were just starting to fade to blue as we finished. Charlie had been asleep behind us for the last few minutes, but he suddenly jumped to his feet, a rarity for my dog if ever there was one.

The three of us turned to see what had caught his attention. There were two people headed toward us—a guy and a girl. The girl, decked out in a long-sleeved Roxy rash guard and board shorts with a towel hanging around her neck, looked happy to be there. She held her flip-flops in her hand and strode confidently across the sand. The guy, however, looked miserable. He was juggling a folding beach chair and a huge beach bag with an umbrella sticking out the top, and he held his phone in one hand and a huge coffee cup in the other. I tried in vain to keep myself from coveting it. He was wearing mirrored Ray-Bans, turquoise khaki shorts, and a tight white T-shirt. His dark hair blew haphazardly in the morning breeze. He was flicking sand everywhere because he hadn’t bothered to take his sandals off, and I heard him muttering to his companion, but I couldn’t make out what he was saying. He looked exactly like the kind of guy who was going to take a sledgehammer to the tranquility of the morning.

Excerpt:

It was the distinct lack of deference in the servant standing before him that alerted Mr. Jolyon Mortimer Devereaux that all might not be well in his newly discovered ancestral home, Darley Hall. Granted, no-one had expected him to inherit. It had taken a war with France and an outbreak of fever to dispense with several members of his extended family, leaving the entire estate to someone from a largely unknown cadet branch of the family: him.

Jo looked at the man standing before him, Mr. Hope, if he recalled correctly. The man would be better suited to prize fighting or running a tavern in the seedier side of London. A tall, burly young chap with straggly dark hair roughly scraped back in an unfashionable queue with one strand hanging by his cheek. Shifty, dark blue eyes and a blade of a nose that had clearly been broken, more than once, completed the ensemble. A potentially charming dimple lurked in one cheek when he smiled, but Jo paid it no attention. He was far too exhausted.

“Mr. Devereaux.” Hope nodded his head in some approximation of a bow and shifted uneasily on his feet. “We only received word of your arrival yesterday, but we have made every effort to ensure your comfort.” His words were as stilted and uncomfortable as his bow. Had Jo been a stickler, or less exhausted, he would have been significantly more concerned than he currently was.

“A light meal and a bed will suffice. We can discuss arrangements tomorrow.”

“Have you brought staff, sir?”

Jo shook his head. “Are there staff in residence?”

Hope looked even shiftier and rubbed the back of his neck. “Yes sir, we’ve kept the place tidy and stopped it falling apart as best we could, but no-one has been here this last five years. Old Mr. Mortimer lived in London and never came here.”

“There’s a cook?”

Hope nodded with a smile.

Thank God for that. If he’d have had to mess about finding staff… Jo sighed. “Then I’ll manage.”

“Um… I can take your bags to your chamber and arrange for some refreshment?” Hope hesitated. “Sir,” he added after a moment.

“If the room is ready, I’ll take refreshment in there.” He sincerely hoped that there was a good fire in the bed chamber, for the weather was damnably cold even for November and the parlour in which he stood was perishing despite the fire crackling in the grate.

Hope gave him a nervous smile. “Um… it will be … Have a seat and I’ll bring you some tea whilst I sort it out.” He gestured to a chair by the fire.

Jo blinked and quelled the bubble of hysterical laughter that threatened at the sheer informality of the man.

“Thank you. Most kind.”

“I’ll be right back.”

Dear God, what on earth had he got himself into? The man was barely civilised and certainly didn’t recognise sarcasm. “Mr. Hope?”

The man turned around with eyebrows raised in enquiry and a smile that revealed the dimple. Despite his exhaustion, Jo didn’t miss the fact that the man’s gaze took him in from head to foot.

“What did you say your role in the household was?”

“Me?” He laid a hand on his chest. “Well, I suppose I am the … ah… um … estate manager.” He scratched his head. “Yes, that’s it, estate manager.”

“We don’t have a butler?”

“That’s … probably me too.”

Jo couldn’t say he was entirely surprised. He waved the man away and slumped into the chair closest to the fire and closed his eyes.

Excerpt:

Troy followed Jessie through the dirt and rock parking lot, walking past cars, trucks, and other vans, holding a cardboard tray with hot dogs, popcorn, and candy.

Jessie strolled with drinks in paper cups and plastic lids, straws poking out the top. As he reached the van, he stopped. “This thing is so big, it’s hard to miss.”

With a chuckle, Troy set the food tray on the ground, then unlocked and opened the sliding door on the van.

Jessie crawled inside and set their drinks on the cabinet counter.

Troy handed Jessie the food tray, made his way inside and closed the door, then sat on the fold-out bed, next to Jessie, cross legged. “So, what first?”

Jessie swung both tailgate doors on the van open. “Hot dogs.” He returned to Troy, facing him, crossing his legs.

Troy handed him a hot dog wrapped in foil, then opened his own and took a bite. He definitely had the munchies. “Damn, that tastes good.”

Jessie slid his hot dog out of the wrapper and bit into it, ketchup dribbling onto his fingers. As he chewed, he licked them off.

Troy focused on his tongue, lapping at the ketchup. Warmth filtered over his groin. “Dude, that’s pretty indecent.”

“What?” Jessie stopped licking and smirked. “You have a dirty mind.”

“I do. You have no idea.” Troy snickered. They were flirting now and none of it was fake. “Give me a bite.”

Jessie looked his hot dog over, then furrowed his brows. “You have your own.”

“I’ll give you some of mine if you give me some of yours.” Troy lifted a brow. Did he flirt like this with chicks? No, not really.

Jessie smiled and held his hot dog out. “Here.”

Troy kept his gaze on Jessie and bit into it. “I like eating yours better.” And next time they were alone, he definitely would.

Jessie chuckled and shook his head. “You are so bad.” He bent forward, putting his lips close to Troy’s ear. “I like it.” As he turned his head, he flicked his tongue across Troy’s cheek. “You had a bit of ketchup…” He straightened.

Troy widened his eyes. He really wanted to kiss him now. Maybe they should close all the doors on the van until the movie started? He held his hot dog out to him. “Here, eat mine.”

With a grin, Jessie took a bite and chewed. “What’s going on inside your head?”

“I was thinking about closing the doors and kissing you.” Heat flooded Troy’s face. Why did it always embarrass him to say what he was thinking? Guess he wasn’t used to it.

“You are? Then how are we going to watch the movie? Because if we start kissing again, I’m not going to be able to stop.” Jessie looked him over, raking his teeth over his lower lip, then grabbed a soda from the counter and sucked on it through the straw. “Well?”

A flash of heat pooled in Troy’s groin. He was liking the idea of forgoing the movie more and more. But what if someone, like Donna, asked about the movie when they got back? “We better watch the movie. We don’t want to get caught not knowing what happens.”

Jessie slumped his shoulders. “Guess so.” He glanced at Troy’s hot dog. “You going to give me more of that?” He smirked.

“Definitely. All you want.” Troy held it out to him. Seemed he was ready to give Jessie anything he asked for. Had he always felt this way? Pretty much. So, that hadn’t changed.

About the Author:

Christie Gordon started writing gay and M/M romance fiction after becoming preoccupied with anime and in particular, the boys love and yaoi genres. She’s always had stories in her head and always enjoyed writing, so she took up fiction writing classes at a local community college and published her first book with eXtasy Books back in 2009. Christie likes to write complicated characters with painful pasts that refuse to be ignored until the characters are forced to face them head on. Angst? Yes. Happily ever after? Always. It’s the struggle to get there that counts.

Christie’s day job is in the high-tech industry with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s in Business Administration. She currently lives in the Phoenix, Arizona metro area and enjoyed eight years in the Bay Area of California but grew up in Minnesota. She shares a home with her partner of twelve years, a musician by night and a coder by day, who is currently in three bands, giving her plenty of time to keep writing. She is also a mother of two sons, one currently in college for engineering and the other preparing for nursing college. Her one-eyed, rescue pug is always by her side, snoring the day away.
