Excerpt:

A door on the first floor slams, and I blink awake. Glancing over at my clock on my bedside table, I find it is six-thirty a.m., half an hour before my alarm was set to go off.  Groaning, I throw an arm over my face and try to grasp the warm fog of sleep that still clings to the corners of my mind.  As I drift off again, my door slams open, and a familiar voice calls out.

“Colt!  You lazy giant!  Get up. Santa Claus is here.”

Before I can respond, the covers are ripped off my bed, and the brat grabs my free hand, trying to pull me up.  I resist, mostly by just not moving.  Since I outweigh him by a good fifty pounds, I know he won’t be able to budge me from my bed without a lot more effort than he is currently exerting.  Without moving my arm off my face, I laugh at him.

My arm is snatched away from my face as Eddie tries again to yank me upright.  A smirk forms on my lips as I purposely lie as still as possible.

“Damn it, Colt.  You’re a brick house, not a horse!  Get up!”  He throws my arm down into my face as I laugh.

“Hurry up.  We have to get breakfast going before all of the kids wake up. You know Elouise’s rule.  If we don’t hurry up, we will be late for brunch at Tuck and Darren’s place.”

Sighing, I scrub my hand over my face, feeling the stubble on my chin.  “Why did you have to wake me up?  Can’t someone else help you?”

Eddie plops down on the end of my bed and throws me one of his dazzling smiles.  His outfit finally registers.  The crazy racehorse is decked out in a full Santa costume, complete with a ridiculous fake beard that he has pulled down below his chin.  A laugh escapes me before I can help it.

            “What are you wearing?”

More Heat Than The Sun Series
By John Wiltshire

Book 4: The Other Country
Out Now

4_Book 4JW_ Cover

Released January 29th

Nikolas is the sanest, straightest, person Ben knows, so can anyone tell him, why is he on a gay therapy course?

Nikolas Mikkelsen could make a very long list of unpleasant things he's endured in his life.  Then order it from 'nearly killed me' to 'extremely horrific and don't want to do again'.  And what did it say about his forty-five years that being hit by a tsunami would be a considerable way down this list?  But nothing, not torture, imprisonment, nor starvation has prepared him for what he now has to endure for Ben Rider's sake-attendance on a residential, gay therapy course.  At least he has a new contender for the top spot on his 'my awful life' list.

Excerpt from This Other Country

“Why are we as we are, Benjamin? Do you ever wonder?” Nikolas lay with his head on Ben’s belly, his hair being stroked.  He twisted around to look at Ben when he got no response.

Ben was frowning.  “What do you mean? Gay?”

“I’m not…no, what I mean is, why do we not need what that doctor offers? Why do we…work?”

Ben lifted his head and stared at him.  The pause went on for an unnatural length of time until Nikolas shifted uncomfortably.  “What?”

Ben shook himself.  “You? Introspection? I never thought I’d live to see the day.”

“You’re very harsh, Benjamin.  I think about a lot of things very deeply as you know.”

Ben began to laugh.  “Oh, yeah, you spend hours and hours thinking about me and our relationship.”

Nikolas folded his arms, his air of injured martyrdom slightly ruined by the huge erection jutting up from his lean body.  Ben pushed it flat to the ridged belly and lay on top of Nikolas, propped up on his elbows, studying him.  “Maybe it’s because we don’t do the thinking thing we work so well.”

Nikolas wasn’t particularly mollified by this suggestion.  “We’re only together because we don’t think about it too much? I’m gratified and flattered by your devotion.”

Ben sighed.  “When was the last time you thought about breathing?”

“What?”

“Breathing? Lungs in and out? Air? When did you last think about it? You’re like breathing.  I don’t think about it, but I need it to stay alive.” A faint smile came to Nikolas’s lips.

“Then you’re like a heartbeat.  I’ll miss you when you stop.”

Ben laughed then sobered slightly, trailing a finger around one of Nikolas’s nipples.  “You did think I’d stopped.  When I was in that coffin.  Did you miss me then? You’ve never really told me.”

Nikolas raised his head a little to look at him then lowered it again, staring at the ceiling.  “I haven’t told you, because I have no words for it.” He snagged his fingers into Ben’s hair and tugged him down for a kiss.  Around the kissing, he murmured, “You know I’ve begun to dream, yes? That I don’t sleep well now.”

Ben nodded, clearly only intent on the taste and feel of his lips and tongue.

“Well, I dream of you every night.  Over forty years of no dreams, and they turned on like a switch in my head after I watched you burn in the fire.  Perhaps that says more than words.”

Ben lifted up and cupped his face.  “Didn’t watch me burn.  I’m right here, Nik.”

Nikolas nodded and wrapped his arms around Ben, kissing his shoulder, pressing his face into the crook of Ben’s warm neck.  He never talked about the time he thought he’d lost Ben, because this is what always happened when he tried.  He swallowed and raised his eyes, biting his lip for control.

With the intuitive knowledge of him, which Ben apparently had, he didn’t try to comfort him or get him to talk more, he just slid back and took him in.  Nikolas gasped.  Ben sat up, dug his fingers painfully into his hard stomach and began to ride him.  Nikolas arched, nightmares of losing Ben forgotten in the extreme pleasure of having him here in the bed with him.  He twisted, rolled them, re-entered, lifting Ben’s thigh and gaining better access.  He felt a trickle of moisture on his cheek, a residue of the grief he couldn’t articulate and pressed his face to Ben’s chest, hearing the heartbeat as he jerked, bringing his thrusts in time with that steady, strong and reassuring sound.

Ben held Nikolas’s hair, running his fingers through it, tugging it for encouragement when he needed more, and then they were coming together.  Nikolas lifted up slightly off Ben’s belly, allowing Ben’s cock to jettison freely over their chests while he groaned as he unloaded deep into Ben’s body.

When he was done, he lay heavily on the soaked, hot body beneath him.  Ben’s fingers still played restlessly with his hair until with another pull Ben urged, “Let’s go home tomorrow—wait there until we hear from Kate.”

Nikolas nodded.  When he was embedded in Ben’s body, soaked with his juices, he’d agree to just about anything Benjamin Rider-Mikkelsen wanted.

Excerpt From Catching Kalen by Maya Nicole & Britt Andrews

His eyebrow lifted mimicking the corner of his mouth. “Monroe. And you are?” He sat back against the stool, cool as a cucumber, but there was something about him that made my heart race.

Annnnd that was ridiculous. He’d said like… three things to me, but it was really about the way he carried himself, like he could decimate a man with his brain or some shit. Fuck, the tequila was kicking in.

“Kalen,” I replied as the bartender put our drinks down. Monroe slipped her a bill, telling her to keep the change. He picked up his glass of whiskey and motioned for me to do the same.

“Well, Kalen. What should we toast to tonight? New adventures? Good times?” An emotion I couldn’t place flashed across his face, and I swallowed, my throat suddenly tight.

“All of the above,” I rasped, pushing my glass against his before throwing it back, shutting my eyes as the liquid burned going down.

As I opened my eyes, I brought my glass down, and a little drop of liquor slid down my chin.

Monroe’s eyes tracked its path, and before I could lift my hand to wipe it away, his thumb

swiped it off my warm skin.

I sat there frozen. What the hell was that? Blinking, I glanced around the bar, but nobody was paying any attention to the man who just wiped tequila off of my face with his thumb.

Since I was a glutton for punishment, I looked over at him. He was smirking at me. Smirking. All I could do was stare in fascination as he took the thumb that was still wet and popped it into his mouth.

Jesus Christ. My cock twitched in my jeans. I didn’t know what was happening, but I felt really hot and confused… and hot. I needed to get out of there.

Cover Reveal Exclusive Excerpt:

I snatched my hands out of my pockets, thrust them out before me to regain my balance. Tried to stop my forward momentum. Just as I thought I’d eat the limo driver’s elbow, and possibly the sidewalk, my palms met a well-muscled chest covered in the softest fabric I’d ever touched, and something cold and tingly pressed into the fingers of my right hand.

The man caught me by the biceps and gently righted me, as if I wasn’t street scum, as if I hadn’t just tried to plow the man down. He waited until I had my balance, and when I looked up into the man’s startling blue eyes, I gasped. My wits finally returned to me, and I nearly vomited the apology, “I’m so sorry! I wasn’t watching where I was going.”

The man narrowed his eyes as if he heard the lie in my voice. But he said, “It’s all right. I remained where I was so you wouldn’t sprawl straight onto the floor of my car.” His voice was as silky and deep as a calm ocean. It flowed over me and left a pleasant tingle in its wake. Concern and something else I couldn’t name shone in the man’s intense blue eyes. “Are you all right?”

I shivered, both from the autumn chill and from the smoky quality of the man’s sensual voice. My right hand started to burn, and I cradled it against my chest as I replied, “I don’t know how, but I think I burned my fingers on something.” I knew it was impossible, but my fingers hurt.

With a tender touch, the man teased my hand out of my death grip and tickled my fingers until I reluctantly unclenched my fist. As he examined them, he lightly brushed the pads of his fingers over my calluses and tutted to himself. “It does not appear to be a burn, but you are, indeed, injured.”

Great.

Something dark flashed in the man’s eyes when he looked back up at me. He didn’t let go of my hand, but his grip remained gentle. Firm enough to keep me from pulling away, but he wasn’t being forceful. Yet.

I stared at my hand in his as the ridges of the man’s necklace appeared on my fingers as if I were branded by it. And as the design completed, the world tilted.

Everything spun. The bright streetlights and setting sun dimmed, and the world went black. I fell, or could feel myself falling, but before I hit the ground, strong arms caught me and the last thing I felt before darkness completely overtook me was being cradled against the beautiful man’s soft-as-clouds sweater and his breath tickling my ear as his voice echoed around me, “All will be well, young one. Come back to me.”

And I wished I could.

“Come back to me,” his voice echoed.

About the Author:

I’m a mother, furbaby spoiler, and a girl who can’t get enough of pretty, pretty boys. As a kid, I traveled the world, too young to appreciate the gift I was given, but now those adventures spur on stories that my brain just can’t keep up with. Well, my brain tells me it keeps up just fine, but my fingers are the slow ones. I’ll let you decide. But the boys, man. The boys I remember make my heart sizzle looking back on them. Being a kid at nude beaches, I never cared, but looking back on those memories of Sicily, WHEW! There are some really great childhood images that I wish I could have been an adult to savor.Home is some place I call “rustic”. I’m used to large cities, stores everywhere, gas stations on every corner. Here in rural Pennsylvania, it’s rustic and beautiful. And quiet. Too quiet. With all this quiet, all there is to do is write stories, and let the hot men in my head out to play. We all benefit, yes? I like this development. The only thing I dislike about this rusticness is the fact I can’t find a coffee shop that sells a proper chai latte. They make it from powder. Ew. This makes for a disgruntled Dev. Ugh. I miss my chai.

Most of all, I am a down-to-earth southern girl at heart from spending 16 years in Florida. If you chat with me, you’ll hear endearments like darlin’, sweetheart, and hon/hun/hunnie. It’s who I am, and if we chat, you’re almost instantly family, so get used to it.

They’re in a war for control of the streets, but love will be the ultimate prize.

Here comes trouble…

Men. Women. Drugs. Dima Zhirkov’s favorite things. Add in the element of danger and he should be right as rain. But not today. It’s not working, hasn’t for a long time. He’s grasping at the flimsiest of straws to prove he’s indeed strong enough to run his streets. Until he sets eyes on him. In the midst of a room full of strangers, Dima is drawn to a man as cold and dangerous as he is beautiful. Captivated, Dima embarks on a ruthless campaign to get his new toy into bed.

Here comes the danger…

Xavier “X” Storm is content to pull the strings while someone else handles the day to day dealings of his gang, The Rude Boys. He’s after what Dima holds closest—the Coney Island streets. He contracts out the job of killing the Russian, except Dima isn’t that easy to kill. When he suddenly shows up in X’s path, tempting him to indulge in the dirtiest play, he finds Dima isn’t all that easy to shake, either. Excerpt from (Watch Me) Break You

“You haven’t asked my name. Why don’t you tell me yours and I’ll reciprocate.”

Cold eyes regarded him steadily. “Xavier Storm.”

Dima caught his bottom lip between his teeth, worrying the piercing there. “Xavier,” he murmured. “What do your friends call you?”

“Are we friends?”

“We’re a lot of things.” Dima winked. “Getting to be more by the minute.”

For a second there he thought Xavier was going to roll his eyes, but he just said, “X. My friends call me X.”

Dima grabbed his arm and pulled him close, their chests touching. “Xavier, it’s a pleasure. Really. I’m Dima Zhirkov.” He dropped his gaze from Xavier’s expressionless face to his lips. They needed biting in the worst way.

“I want your emotions,” Dima whispered. “That control you keep a tight rein on, the power you work so hard to conceal. I want you to unleash it on me. All of it. And I want to watch your face when you do, when you let it all go. For me.” Xavier stiffened against him; it felt as if the other man had stopped breathing. Dima tightened his hold, not willing to risk letting Xavier out of arm’s length for an instant.

“You’ve got the wrong guy, if that’s what you want.” Xavier’s voice was scratchy, full of static.

Dima tilted his head back, meeting Xavier’s gaze. “Yeah? You think so?”

“I know so.” Xavier was gone, yanking out of Dima’s hold effortlessly, opening the door and stepping outside.

Dima raced after him. “You must want to put me in my place,” he said breathlessly as Xavier hurried to his car parked in Savannah’s fenced-in driveway. “Show me who’s in charge.”

“You’ve got the gun, you’re in charge.” Xavier didn’t look at Dima as he pulled out his keys.

“No.” Dima grabbed his shoulder, turning him around and stalling Xavier’s movement. “You. I want you. Your belt, my skin. Your hands. On me.”

Denial only lasts so long…eventually the heart wins out

What if loving him…

After recent events that had his life flashing before his eyes, Israel Storm is re-evaluating everything. His friends. His priorities. What’s not going to change is the deep connection he’s developed with Reggie Turner. They’re comfortable with each other, partners in crime with no qualms about sharing women. Whatever Is needs, Reggie is the one he calls. Their bond can survive anything. But maybe not the kiss Reggie plants on him out of nowhere.

Means losing him?

Despite what Is thinks, that kiss came from somewhere. An un-named current has been flowing between them for months. Reggie doesn’t bat for his own team, but the more time he spends with Is, seeing past the rough façade of the man leading The Rude Boys, the more Reggie loses sight of labels and where he fits. All he knows is there’s something there, something Is will never acknowledge. One kiss leads to a punch that lands Reggie in the ER, and sends Is digging through his darkest memories in search of himself.

Friendship is all that’s left if they bury the truth. If they ignore the pull that makes it impossible to do anything other than fight. But denials can be exhausting and hiding isn’t working, not when everyone can clearly see your heart’s desire. An enemy is out to make an example of Is and his weapon of choice will leave this Rude Boy bloodied…and bodied.

Picture Love 1800x2700

A Good Bad Idea Story, Book 6

Felix Murphy

My friend’s hot older brother agrees to play tour guide for me in Paris, so I know I’m in for the trip of a lifetime. The best part is that Arsène is a shameless flirt who gives my vivid imagination all kinds of naughty ideas. My lack of a filter always gets me into trouble, but at least this time it’s the fun kind.

Going home alone with a broken heart as a souvenir would suck. I’d rather return to America with a gorgeous French boyfriend instead.

Arsène Devereaux

When I agreed to babysit my younger brother’s American friend, he warned me not to break Felix’s heart. I never expected to be the one in danger of falling in love. But Felix is a cute and charming smart-ass, which is an irresistible combination to me.

If he offers to play tour guide next, I just might follow him across the ocean in search of a happily ever after.

Picture Love is the sixth book in the Good Bad Idea series. This novel features a brother’s best friend, age gap, instalove romance. Full of cute sweetness and sexy fun, every story ends with a satisfying HEA and no cliffhangers. Each book can be read as a standalone or as part of the series in order.

“This was amazing, even though you ordered escargot to gross me out,” Felix said with a knowing grin. “The joke’s on you because I loved it.”

“I was merely attempting to expand your culinary horizons.”

“Uh-huh, sure. You totally didn’t order it because you wanted to feel superior to me being too American to eat snails.” He snorted in amusement.

“Perhaps it was a test to determine how adventurous you are.”

He rested his chin on his hand while giving me a flirtatious look. It did nothing to abate my desire to add my bedroom as a stop on our Paris tour. “That seems like a strange method to judge how adventurous I am in bed. Is there some French expression about eating snails meaning you’re into kinky stuff that I’m unaware of?”

Rather than answer, I drank my wine. “You are quite the tease, Monsieur Felix.”

“Oh, and you’re not?” He scoffed. “Please, you’re a bigger flirt than my roommate, North.”

“What can I say? I enjoy living life to the fullest.”

“And I love getting into trouble, so it sounds like we might have some real fun together.” He raised his wineglass in a toast to me.

“I will do whatever I can to ensure your stay here is enjoyable.” I clinked my glass against his, and we both took a sip in celebration.

His cheeky grin once again made me regret not bringing my camera. “Including giving me a personal guided tour of your bedroom? I’m pretty sure that’s going above and beyond what’s necessary.”

“Perhaps it is unnecessary, but it would be pleasurable.” It became more and more tempting the longer I spent with him. His playfulness brought out that side of me which had gone into hiding because of how hard I worked without a break. I used to relax by indulging in beautiful men, but even that had lost its charm at some point. Felix was something entirely new and different.

“Don’t tempt me,” he warned with a laugh. “You’re way too hot for me to put up anything but the barest resistance before I give in to you.”

“Then I guess it is a good thing that the idea of you giving yourself to me brings me great pleasure. I would take excellent care of you.”

There was a slight flush in his cheeks that had nothing to do with the wine he was drinking. “Oh, I’m sure of it.”

“Your wish is my command.”

I did not expect him to crack up at that. “Don’t say that. It makes you sound like a sex genie who will grant my wildest wishes in bed if I rub you the right way—and I’m not talking about your lamp.”

It was impossible to restrain myself from chuckling along with him. “Then that is good, since it is not my lamp I would wish you to rub.”

He took a huge gulp of wine. “I’m warning you: if you keep teasing me, I’m going to get the wrong impression.”

“I disagree. It sounds like you are getting the right idea.”

“You’re not interested in me, though.”

I gave him a sensual look that made him flush to the tips of his ears. “Do not be so certain of that.”

“Oh, lord.” He finished his drink in a long swig. “I’m not sure if I’m going to survive five days of your teasing.”

“Be brave, mon ami. The fun is only getting started.” And I had every intention of having the best time possible.

What are the odds that my bad idea ends up being the best thing to ever happen to us?

Lucien “Luci" St. Amour

Rhys may legally be my husband now, but that doesn’t mean he’s mine to love and cherish for the rest of our lives. We’ll get an annulment, then go back to being just best friends. But all those feelings I’ve suppressed since we shared our first kiss as teenagers have been stirred up, forcing me to confront the fact that I wish our marriage was more than a mistake.

Love Means More Large Logo

Ambrose O’Rourke

I’ve dropped at least 1,846,957 hints that I want to be more than Augie’s best friend. Despite my best efforts, my reputation as a straight playboy means he’s not picking up what I’m putting down. If I’m going to win his heart, I’ve got to get creative.

Maybe if I show him what an awesome fake boyfriend I am, he’ll want me to be his real one?

August “Augie" Murphy

Secretly being in love with your straight friend sucks. Secretly being in love with your straight friend who won’t quit flirting with you really sucks. When Ambrose suggests we go on a fake double date as boyfriends, the temptation is too much to resist. Even if we’re only pretending for one night, I want to know what it’s like to be loved by him.

Is it possible to turn my fake boyfriend for a night into my real one forever?

Book 3: Love Means More

Callum O’Rourke

A twenty-year-old like me doesn’t stand a chance with an older playboy like Rune. Yet despite being total opposites, I’m lucky enough to call him my friend. Anything more than that would be greedy, but that doesn’t stop me from wishing he would teach me how to satisfy the passionate desire I feel for him. All of my fantasies are about experiencing my first time with him.

Could I be lucky enough that it happens for real?

Rune Tourneau

The only relationships I used to be interested in were meaningless hookups with no strings attached. But Callum’s kindness touched a part of my heart I didn't know existed, changing me forever. I desperately want him, but he deserves to be cherished by someone who thinks true love is real and isn’t a jaded thirty-year-old like me.

Can he really turn a sceptic like me into someone who believes we could have a romantic happy ever after together?

Book 4: Love Fool

Love Fool 1800x2700

Xander Dandridge

Everybody thinks my best friend is in love with me, including my cheating ex-boyfriend. When I have to see that jerk at my boss’s wedding, bringing Jules as my fake date is the perfect revenge. But why stop there? After all, if everyone is going to accuse Jules and I of being together, why shouldn’t we enjoy ourselves as friends-with-benefits?

Ohhhh, it’s because our arrangement makes me fall in love with him for real. Oops?

Jules Tourneau

I’ve ignored my feelings for Xander so many years that I’m convinced I only love him as a friend. It’s totally a coincidence that thinking of him with his awful ex-boyfriend makes me burn with raging hellfire, right? When we’re fake dating, I’m obviously going to have fun teasing him with obnoxiously cutesy nicknames, like calling him my pookie—crap, I’m actually in love with Xander, aren’t I?

How do you tell your best friend, “Surprise! I just figured out I’ve been stupid in love with you forever,” without sounding like the world’s biggest idiot?

Book 5: Love Directions

Love Directions 1800x2700

Elias Forthwright

Horoscopes always seemed a bit woo-woo to me, but I don't know how else to explain why it feels like supernatural influences brought the mysterious North Easton into my life at just the right time. We’re nothing alike, but for the first time since my mom passed away, life is finally fun again thanks to him.

Even though we just met, it would be stupid to run away from love when all signs point to him being the one, right?

North Easton

I’ve always been a lust at first sight kind of a guy, but Elias makes me rethink everything I know about love. It seems like our romance was written in the stars, especially since his horoscope predicted I would become the greatest love of his life.

There’s just one tiny problem: he doesn't know that I actually write the horoscopes he believes brought us together. Do I tell him the truth or let him keep being a believer?

Love Directions is the fifth book in the Good Bad Idea series. This novel features a love at first sight, mistaken identity, opposites attract romance with some amusing cosmic coincidences from the great beyond. Full of cute sweetness and sexy fun, every story ends with a satisfying HEA and no cliffhangers. Each book can be read as a standalone or as part of the series in order.
