Rupert held out his hand and Lee shook it with more professionalism that time. “I cannot thank you enough for agreeing to this. I’ve been having nightmares about what could happen to him.” Rupert tightened his grip and his voice dropped as it filled up with the emotions he couldn’t keep in. “I can’t lose him, Lee. I can’t go through it all again.”

“You won’t.” Lee tugged on his hand and drew Rupert in for a hug, squeezing his neck. “Trust me. I’ll guard him like he’s my own.”

Rupert stepped out of his embrace. Smiled. And the melancholy in his eyes had Lee’s chest tightening. He wished he could take Rupert’s pain away. If there was any man on the planet who deserved the world, it was Rupert Brownlee. But he could only offer himself in any way Rupert needed him. And if that was to babysit his kid to America, then he’d do it.

What else did he have to do?

He saw Rupert to the door, kicking away stray bags and boxes to pull it open for him, and Rupert stepped onto the communal walkway, turning to face him. “I’m sorry,” he said. “For everything that happened to you. For not being able to fix it.”

“It’s not down to you to fix my marriage, Ru.”

“No. But I could have fixed your career and she might not have left you.”

“She would have. I couldn’t give her what she wanted.”

“It isn’t your fault you couldn’t give her a baby.”

Lee drew in a breath. “It wasn’t just the baby thing. I’m…not an easy bloke to love.”

“I beg to differ. And, hey, you know the Americans swoon over a British accent.” Rupert winked, then sauntered off toward the end of the walkway. He then swivelled around in an afterthought. “By the way, um…Eddie’s gay.”

Lee folded his arms, leaning on his doorframe. “Oh. Right.”

“He’s, uh, out to us. His family. Friends. Etcetera. But not publicly.”

“Okay.”

“Yet.”

“Right.”

“He thinks it might hinder his chances of getting leading roles.”

“Huh.” Lee nodded, unsure what to say. What should he say? Congratulations? Commiserations? What was the appropriate response to someone when their son comes out as gay? He wouldn’t know. But there was an uncomfortable tightening in his chest.

“I take it that doesn’t change things?” Rupert stared at him through lowered lashes, the way he’d cross examine a witness.

“Of course not. Why would it?”

“For some people, it would.”

“I’m not some people.”

“I know. And that’s why I love ya.” Rupert winked.

Lee breathed through a laugh. “And you.”

Rupert nodded with finality, spun and disappeared, braving the lift that would take him down to ground level.

Lee sighed, gazing out at the view of the London skyline comprising housing estates. He then shut the door and glanced at his life in bags. New career role then. Babysitter. He chuckled. When he’d been sixteen, Joanna Maskell had invited him on one of her babysitting gigs. He’d had his first feel of boobs over her bra while the kids were asleep.

Maybe this babysitting gig would come with such perks?

Lee doubted it and trudged over his life to grab another Bud from the fridge.

You Can Save Me
By R.L. Merrill

You Can Save Me Cover

Carnival of Mysteries Series

From author R.L. Merrill comes the follow-up to You Can Do Magic, Winner of The Paranormal Romance Guild Reviewers' Choice award and Finalist in the North Texas Romance Writers' Carolyn Contest.

Sixties folk singer Dane Donovan vanished from a desolate highway rest area in 1979. Forty years later, he’s found hitchhiking in the California desert on a cold winter’s night. He hasn’t aged a day, but the roadmap of scars he wears tells a chilling tale.

Veteran detective Walter Muse took over Dane’s missing persons case twenty years ago, but his haunting connection to Dane Donovan goes back to a peculiar run-in as a child with The Troubadour and his Talking Board at a traveling carnival. He receives a late-night call with Dane’s whereabouts and races to Laurel Canyon to see for himself whether Dane is real — or a ghost meant to taunt Walter and his somewhat precarious hold on his sanity. Walter’s carefully honed detective instincts are thrown out the window, however, when his obsession with the case develops into an undeniable attraction to the mysterious singer.

Dane is on a mission to stop a new killer hell-bent on picking up where Dane’s kidnapper left off, and Walter is determined to protect him, no matter the personal and psychological cost. They’ll have to rely on new friends and trusted colleagues as well as the power of a mystical spirit board to stop the killing, and have a chance at a real future together.

You Can Save Me is part of the multi-author Carnival of Mysteries series. All books may be read as a standalone, but this book is a continuation of the events in You Can Do Magic. Recommended 18+ and TW for violence and mention of suicide of a family member.

Excerpt:

The sun rose and revealed a beautiful day ahead as we descended the grade beside Castaic Lake into Los Angeles County. I was stunned by the transformation of the landscape. My head moved on a swivel. The cars were different, the road was much wider than I remembered. There were so many buildings…

“Unreal,” I muttered to myself. Ryan had been singing along to the music playing on the radio, music I’d never heard. It wasn’t like any radio I’d ever seen before, either. It seemed to be controlled by some sort of touching glass on the dashboard of the truck. The same one he’d used to call the police last night. It looked like something out of a science fiction movie. Every once in a while he’d tap it and the music would change, the cool air would come through the vents, something else would happen.

“Dee Dee?” Kal asked, leaning between the seats again. He was so big, it wasn’t much of a stretch. “What is the last date that you remember?”

“Date?”

“Yeah, like the day, maybe, when you joined the carnival?”

“You mean… Oh, it was December.” The further we drove from the nightmare at the rest area, the more my memories began tickling my mind, like sprinkles on a cupcake. “We’d just played The Fillmore in San Francisco. It was the last night of our tour. Tess flew back, so we dropped her off at the airport. I was riding home with the guys in our band and the crew, in the van. It was December fifteenth, I think. I know everyone was happy to be done before the holidays.”

Ryan glanced at me and cleared his throat. “The Fillmore, huh? That’s cool.”

Kal squeezed his shoulder, then looked at me with those intense blue eyes. “What year do you think it is now?”

I turned to stare at him. “What year? It’s 1979, man. What are you talking about?”

“Oh shit,” Ryan muttered. He flicked on his blinker and changed lanes, letting out a whistling breath and shaking his head.

“We need to prepare you,” Kal said. “Time doesn’t work the same at the carnival.”

“I know that. It’s fucking weird there. Days seem longer because the sky is all lit up, even at night. You go to sleep in one place and wake up someplace else. People dress funny sometimes. I gave up trying to figure it out and just did my thing. I was only there like, what, a few weeks? A month maybe? I don’t remember. Oh shit, is it nineteen-eighty? Man, I was looking forward to New Year’s, and I missed it?”

Kal frowned. “Did Mr. Ame say anything before you left? Give you anything?”

Should I tell them about the guy? “He knew I had something I needed to do, and no. He said I could take what I needed, so I took the guitar and my board. Why?”

“Do you have a billfold?” Kal asked.

“No.” I lost everything. “Just some borrowed clothes and the guitar. And my talking board, but that was mine from before. I think. I remember it from before.” Somehow I knew that much.

“And he didn’t give you a billfold? Didn’t give you anything else?” Kal seemed distraught. I wondered why. What the hell didn’t Ame tell me?

“Baby, he gave him us. You think we just happened to be driving through the desert in the wee hours when this guy shows up?” Ryan shook his head. “We’re his help. Don’t worry, we’ll get you squared away. You were playing a show? You play guitar?”

“And piano. And I sing. Or I used to. Haven’t been able to since, well… Not since I came to the carnival.”

Ryan and Kal traded looks.

“I couldn’t speak,” Kal said to me. “When I got to the carnival, and after. Ryan and his friends helped me after I left, until I could.”

“How long ago did you leave?” I asked him.

Kal looked to Ryan.

“We met a year and a half ago, when he joined the traveling music festival that my band was playing.” Ryan glanced at me again and then looked where he was driving. “That was July tenth. Twenty-eighteen. Today is December fifteenth, twenty-nineteen.”

My head started to pound and my vision went blurry—but instead of it being otherworldly like when I used my talking board, it was my tears.

I’d been gone? For forty years?

Was there anyone left? Did anyone miss me?

I didn’t want to know the answer to that. All I could remember was that Laurel Canyon was a place I’d lived, and what happened right before I… met my fate, I supposed.

I looked to Kal, and his expression had changed from fierce protectiveness to just plain sad. “How long were you at the carnival?” I asked him.

Kal’s gaze flicked to Ryan and back to me. “I joined the carnival in nineteen thirty-three.”

I counted in my head as I gaped at him. “Eighty-five years?”

Kal shrugged. “It was only a year to me. I did my service for Mr. Ame, played my calliaphone and the carnival’s calliope, kept them running and in good shape. Then it was time for me to go. It just so happened that the music festival shared grounds with the carnival that day.” He rubbed the back of Ryan’s neck. “And I met Ryan.”

Ryan reached back and squeezed his hand. “He watched out for me, I watched out for him. And now we’re married.”

“And now we’ll watch out for you,” Kal said, leveling his gaze on me.

“I promised Mr. Ame,” Ryan said. “When the time came, I’d help someone else like someone did for me. So we got you, okay?”

It all sounded nice, but folks didn’t stay. They did their thing and went on their way.

“Well, I appreciate the ride, but I can take care of myself.”

Fortune Favors the Fae, Book 12

Who needs love when getting justice sounds so much sweeter…?

Shae Silverstorm

Freedom is all I’ve dreamed about for the last fifteen years.

When I see my chance to escape captivity, I have to take the risk. And for once, luck is on my side.

However, I have no doubt my captors are looking for me.

When I get approached by an eccentric group of misfits called MEOW Squad (don’t even ask) offering to keep me safe and help me get justice, I don’t have much choice but to accept.

The only problem? One of them has the bonkers notion that I’m his fated mate.

Fine. I’ll admit, Wolf Boy has a seriously hot surfer bod, not to mention unfairly cute furry ears and a tail. Talk about a deadly combo.

But love is for suckers and fated mates aren't to be trusted. I've got proof of that. Taking down my evil father, wicked stepmonster, and cruel stepsister has to be my top priority.

But damn if Griffin isn’t starting to break through my strongest defenses though, with his puppy-dog eyes, sunshiny personality, and dog-like (pun intended) devotion to me.

Griffin McIntyre

When I find a magical gold coin straight out of Tolkien (sweet!), it tells me it’s my “Lucky Day.”

And that’s proven the moment I meet Shae because he’s my fated mate.

As a Wolfkin with empathic magic abilities, I was a disappointment to my old pack. Now, as a member of MEOW Squad, I use my powers to help those in need. And I’ve never met anyone who needs me more than Shae.

All I want is to help him heal and get the justice he deserves. Oh, and have him accept our mate bond. If I can conquer a ten-foot wave, then I can do this!

I’ll wait as long as it takes. Just like ice cream and apple pie, we’re meant to be.

Siren in the Rain is about a gorgeous but grumpy siren Cinderfella with the voice of an angel and a mouth full of sass and the golden retriever of a Wolfkin who’s his fated mate. It features more grumpy/ sunshine vibes than one can shake a stick at, all the swoon-worthy hurt/comfort feels, a found family made up of lovable weirdos, and a guaranteed HEA. It’s the first book in a new spin-off series set in the Monsters Hollow universe.

************

Siren in the Rain is a part of the multi-author series, Fortune Favors the Fae. From spicy to sweet, zany romps to epic adventures, there’s something for everyone in this mystical series. Discover destiny and true love and follow the coin on its fickle journey to the next world and a new magical adventure.

One minute I’m being surrounded by a seriously bizarre group of oddball strangers, and the next, a hot guy with a fluffy tail and big pointy canine ears is kneeling by my bed and being all kinds of weird.

“I said, get the fuck away from me, Wolf Boy!”

His handsome tanned face is downright radiant as he stares up at me from the floor. I have to squint because it’s kind of blinding.

“I’m Griffin McIntyre and I’m a Wolfkin. Shae Silverstorm, my sweet mate, I’m so happy we’ve found each other.”

He’s got freaking hearts in his eyes and they’re practically shooting rays of happiness at me.

Who the hell is this guy?

And why does he smell so fucking good? Like sunshine, saltwater, and coconuts.

“May I touch your hand?” he asks, boring holes into all my defenses with the deadliest pair of puppy-dog eyes I’ve ever seen.

I start to pull away and his ears droop, which evidently is all it takes for me to give in.

“Fine. For just a second,” I grumble.

When he gently takes hold of my hand, instead of tensing up the way I thought I would, my body instantly relaxes. My skin tingles pleasantly, and a little zing of awareness races through me. His touch feels just as good as he smells, dammit. I ignore it and focus instead on the fact that I’m much calmer than I was a few moments ago. Even the constant low-grade pain in my body seems duller than usual.

No. It’s just my imagination.

Then I’m able to process what he just told me, and I scowl. “What the hell are you talking about? I’m not the mate of some weirdo Furry.”

Unbothered by my response, he starts sniffing in the general direction of my hair, sighing dreamily. “Yes, you are. My nose is never wrong about these things. Also, I’m not a Furry, although there’s nothing wrong with that. I’m a Wolfkin.” He points to himself with a toothy grin. “My ears and tail are real.”

Fucking hell.

The fluffy ears and tail are too damn cute, especially on a guy who looks like a total himbo surfer dude.

He’s dressed, rather aptly, in board shorts and a tight-fitting tank top that shows off broad shoulders and sleek bronze arms dusted with golden hair. He’s basically a sun-kissed blond from head to tail.

With the hair, the ears, and the tail, I swear he’s like this big, wholesome golden retriever of a man. But damn his sexy-as-sin physique that I’m definitely not getting distracted by.

His tail flaps behind him in rhythmic time as his big hand starts to… pet me.

I freeze. “Uh… what the fuck are you doing?”

“I’m petting you like a good boy,” Wolf Boy croons as he strokes my hand. “It’ll make you feel better.” He sighs happily as he stares at me starry-eyed. “Your hair’s so pretty. You’re so pretty.”

I should pull away, but the petting makes me strangely… warm inside, and he’s only doing it to my hand. It’s been so long since I was touched with any kind of care. Part of me wants to close my eyes and just sink into these sensations.

Release Tour & Excerpt:
The Flower Shop Arrangement
By R. Cayden

TheFlowershopArrangement Cover

An opposites-attract M/M romance, full of heart and heat, and set in a little flower shop with enough charm to overcome any scowl.

When I inherit a building from a grandpa I've never met, there's only one plan: take the money and run.

Enter Nicholas, the florist with the little shop downstairs. I'm an awkward loner of a carpenter, a straight guy who is totally out of place in this unfamiliar city's gay district. I don't know what to do with Nicholas's easy smile or his hopelessly romantic worldview, so I just ignore how it makes me feel when he says my name.

But as I start on some quick and needed renovations, friendly and talkative Nicholas keeps catching my attention, and my eye wanders where I've trained it not to go. The future of his business lies in my hands and what I do with this old, falling-down building. I can't afford to think about him this way, but we make each other smile, and desires I've buried for years rise back to the surface with every loaded silence and moment caught alone together.

Nicholas doesn't let me grunt and trudge away. He surprises me one night with a proposal. Turns out, Nicholas with the sweet little flower shop has some desires of his own, and we might be the perfect match. With love and romance off the table, we can focus all our attention on the bedroom until I sell the building and leave town, and no one needs to know about it.

No commitment is perfect for me. I've spent my entire life building walls.

But the second I get my hands on Nicholas, they all start tumbling down.

What the hell is wrong with me?

Why did I just tell Nicholas that I’m bi?

We walk into a darkly lit gym, high-octane club music blasting over the speakers. I catch a glimpse of the machines, filled with sweaty people, and follow Nicholas to the front desk as I simmer in frustration at myself.

Awkward as fuck.

I’ve never told anyone I’m bi. It’s not even true. Or, at least, I don’t know if it’s true. But I’m trying not to react to everything in this gay neighborhood, and he keeps smiling and looking at me with his big eyes like he thinks I’m adorably clueless.

And I am clueless.

Clueless and holding a basket of flowers and pretending I know the first thing about being bi while Nicholas hands off a bouquet to a burly man in a tank that shows his pierced, hairy nipples.

I am in so, so far over my head.

“You’re Randy’s grandson?” the man asks me. “You mess with Nicholas’s heart, a whole gym full of fitness gays will kick the crap out of you.”

Nicholas laughs warmly, easing over the moment tactfully. “It’s not like that. He’s just here on business, and kind enough to help me with deliveries.” He turns and takes the last bouquet out of my basket. “This is Gunther,” he says, nodding to the man behind the counter.

Gunther curls up a smile. “In that case,” he says and jots his number on the back of a business card, sliding it across the desk. “Call me while you’re in town.”

My mouth slightly opens. Nicholas gives me a pleasant smile, and I panic internally. It takes a full three seconds of mental fumbling before I’m able to respond. “I’m going to be busy,” I mumble, but thinking it might be rude to leave the card there, I take it anyway.

Gunther shrugs. “You know where to find me,” he says casually.

I stand there, not trusting myself to say a word after my blurted coming-out confession on the street.

Nicholas seems to take sympathy and leads us out of the gym, thank god.

“You’ve probably seen enough of Allentown for one morning,” he offers and shuffles his empty basket to me. “If you don’t mind dropping these off at the shop, Kavya can point you toward the back. I remember that your grandpa kept a list of everything he needed to repair. He wrote it in big black marker on the wall in the basement. You probably want to start there. Sound good?”

Grateful for any excuse to end this, I nod slowly. “Sure. Thanks.”

“Thanks for helping with deliveries,” he says as he takes my full basket, now carrying one on each arm. “I’ll be in the shop all day if you need me.”

Before I can reply, he’s off down the street again, whistling to himself.

Slowly, I manage to get my head on straight.

I’m making a mess out of this.

I walk back to the shop, rehearsing what a fool I’ve been. I’ve gone from being theoretically bi-curious to outing myself and having hairy men flirt with me in gay gyms. Now the entire time I’m in Allentown, I’m going to have to contend with people assuming I’m something that I’m not.

Including Nicholas. I care what Nicholas thinks about me, and it sucks.

Excerpt:

Ryan sank into the back seat of their car for the ride home with Logan beside him. Was it his imagination, or had Logan inched closer? He didn’t mind it—in fact, he slanted a sideways glance, hoping to see Logan’s expression, but the car was dim and Logan sat in profile. His face was unsmiling. A dichotomy of hard cuts of jaw and cheekbones softened by full lips and dark hair, frosted with silver at the temples and falling over his brow.

In his past, sex had become second to survival—he’d always tap danced on the edge of destruction, fearing that everything within his grasp could crumble at any second. Yet between Logan and him, no matter his state of mind, a current of attraction waited to bloom, from the spark always sizzling to a full-blown conflagration.

Logan put an arm around him and leaned over to whisper in his ear. “I desire you.”

Not want. Logan said desire. Maybe it meant the same thing to Logan, but for Ryan, it went further. Those three words sent a thrill up his spine that blossomed into a need so great, he almost couldn’t breathe.

They made it home, and Logan locked the door behind them. “I’m going to bed. See you in the morning.”

They would often give each other a casual kiss good night, but this time Logan cupped his face and settled his mouth over Ryan’s. Ryan sighed, pleasure washing over him in steady, pounding waves, and he slid his tongue into Logan’s mouth. A needy sound escaped Logan, but instead of deepening the kiss, he broke away, chest heaving, face flushed.

“Logan? What is it?”

Shocking Ryan, instead of answering, Logan turned and fled, his footsteps fading as he put distance between them. Ryan heard the sound of a door slamming, and he touched his kiss-swollen lips.

“Fuck,” he groaned, his blood on fire, body aching. He walked slowly to his room and shed his clothes, looking at himself naked in the mirror. His dick was full, and his ass clenched tight against the pulsing throb of his hunger.

You want him.

No, you desire him.

Want was purely physical, a need that could be satisfied without anything more.

Desire transcended that. It was visceral and all-encompassing. A quest to learn more and sink into the other person until they became one. He’d never desired anyone but Logan.

If I go to him now, everything changes.

Terribly Tristan Cover

Bad Boyfriends, Inc, Book 3

Bad Boyfriends, Inc—when you can’t find a good boyfriend, why not hire a bad one instead?

Leo Fisher is the outward picture of respectability, just like his parents raised him to be. But when he inherits a crumbling terrace house from his great-uncle, he also inherits a tenant who turns his world upside down. Tristan is brazen, gorgeous, experienced and utterly fabulous. He’s everything Leo is not—so why is Leo drawn to him? Leo has always made the right choices—the sensible choices—yet here he is, hooking up with his tenant, who’s a rent boy.

Tristan Montague is not a rent boy. Not exactly. He’s a bad boyfriend. For a fee, he’ll turn any date into the kind of disaster that will have his client’s unsuspecting parents begging them to date anyone but him. Boyfriending for cash is fun—but for real? No, thanks. Tristan doesn’t do relationships. Except when he meets his cute, awkward landlord Leo, Tristan finds himself rethinking his No Relationships rule. But in order for Leo to take a stand against his overbearing parents, Tristan will need to play the bad boyfriend one last time—and it’s going to have to be spectacular.

Terribly Tristan has previously been published. There are no major content changes in this edition.

Excerpt:

“Darling!” she exclaimed when she saw Tristan, and he pushed himself up onto his toes to kiss her on the cheek. Then she caught sight of Harry. “Darling!”

She reeled Harry into a hug, pressing his face into her bosom and holding him there while he struggled to breathe. Jack extracted him and helped him straighten his glasses.

“Isn’t it just awful?” Miss O’Jenny held a hand to her now-Harry-free bosom. “God, it’s like the end of an era, isn’t it? Not that I’m admitting how old I am—”

“God forbid,” Tristan said, earning himself a smack on the arse with her handbag.

“Not that I’m admitting how old I am,” she continued, “but back when I was just a fresh-faced country boy from Taree, Jimmy bought me my first drink and my first set of tits.” She sniffled, then tugged a lacy handkerchief from her handbag. “My fucking mascara’s going to run, isn’t it?”

“You look gorgeous,” Tristan said, looking around at the people arriving. He knew quite a few of the faces—a few more drag queens, Wei from the adult shop, and a couple of the pole dancers and the bartender from The Palace. But there were also a bunch of serious-faced people who were looking back at them like they were the ones who didn’t belong here. As soon as they went inside the chapel, Tristan saw that the lines had been well and truly drawn. The left side of the chapel was full of queens, go-go boys and queer octogenarians who must have been Mr. Erskine’s peers. The right side of the chapel had about a pew and half filled with people in sensible suits and blouses in varying shades of black, with nary a sequin among them.

In fairness, Tristan was also wearing black, but he was wearing it with style. He’d specifically worn the leather pants that Mr. Erskine had always said made his arse look delicious. He felt like the old man would have appreciated the gesture.

“Did Mr. Erskine have a secret double life as an accountant?” he asked, helping Miss O’Jenny into a pew.

Miss O’Jenny huffed out a bitter laugh. “Oh, that would be his family.”

She said it in a way that made Tristan want to reach past all her battle makeup and find that fresh-faced country boy from Taree and tell him that he’d be okay. But he nodded instead, then sat down beside her in the pew.

Harry and Jack squeezed in beside him. Ambrose and Liam sat behind them with Wei.

The service was short and sombre, and there was nothing in the eulogy that reminded Tristan of the man he’d known at all. The family sat stoically through the entire thing without a ripple of emotion crossing their faces except for one young man, who looked genuinely devastated when they reached the end of the service and the coffin went rumbling on tracks through a curtain at the back, presumably for cremation. Tristan watched as the young man’s throat bobbed and he ran the heel of his hand over his eyes, presumably fighting back tears.

He was attractive, in a tense, rumpled-accountant kind of way. He was also wearing black, but interestingly, Tristan spotted a discreet rainbow pin on his lapel. The guy looked to be in his late twenties. He had dark, wavy hair with curls that brushed the collar of his jacket, a dusting of rather enticing stubble along his jaw and wide, expressive brown eyes that were distinctly red-rimmed. He was shorter than Tristan—although since Tristan was six feet four, most people were—and compactly built. If it hadn’t been a funeral Tristan might have hit on him, but even he had some decorum, apparently.

He’d wait for the wake, like a decent person.

Awfully Ambrose Cover

Ambrose Newman is a bad boyfriend. Professionally. If someone’s parents don’t approve of that long-haired unemployed bass player they want to date, that’s where Ambrose comes in. For a few hundred dollars a night, he’ll go to dinner with a client and their parents and show them that the grass is definitely not greener on his side of the fence. It’s dead. When Ambrose brings a date to a fancy restaurant, it isn’t sparks that fly—it’s glassware.

After his last boyfriend turned out to be a cheat, Liam Connelly has no interest in dating again, but his parents are determined to see him paired off. When they come to visit, he hires Ambrose to act as his boyfriend. If Ambrose can be a bad boyfriend, he can be a tolerable one too, right? But Ambrose plays the part too well and scores an invitation to spend the Easter weekend with the Connolly family at their winery, and Liam finds himself developing real affection for his fake boyfriend.

But does Ambrose return those feelings, or is it all an act?

Book 2: Horribly Harry

Horribly Harry Cover

Bad Boyfriends, Inc—when you can’t find a good boyfriend, why not hire a bad one instead?

To supplement his income while he’s completing his Early Education degree, Harry Townsend hires himself out as a terrible date—for a set fee, he’ll horrify parents and family members in all sorts of interesting ways. But when it comes to actual relationships—and sex—Harry doesn’t get the appeal. He doesn’t get the same tingly feelings everyone else seems to when they meet someone attractive. And he’s fine with that.

Jack Windsor abandoned his university degree to do an apprenticeship as a mechanic. He’s happy with his choices, but leaving uni meant losing his accommodation, and now he’s crashing on his sister Mia’s couch. It isn’t ideal, but it’s only until he finds something else—which is proving difficult in Sydney’s brutal rental market.

When Jack recognises Harry from his sister’s terrible date, he almost kills him with a strawberry smoothie. In the aftermath he discovers that not only was Harry’s bad date with Mia a setup, but that Harry is looking for a roommate.
Moving in with Harry is great, if only he wasn’t so distractingly cute—and totally uninterested in Jack. Except as they grow closer, for the first time ever Harry starts to develop feelings—tingly ones. But how can Harry and Jack be together when Jack’s family thinks that Harry is the worst human being in the universe?

Horribly Harry has previously been published. This new edition contains no major content changes.

Lisa Henry Pic

About Lisa Henry:

Lisa likes to tell stories, mostly with hot guys and happily ever afters.

Lisa lives in tropical North Queensland, Australia. She doesn't know why, because she hates the heat, but she suspects she's too lazy to move. She spends half her time slaving away as a government minion, and the other half plotting her escape.

She attended university at sixteen, not because she was a child prodigy or anything, but because of a mix-up between international school systems early in life. She studied History and English, neither of them very thoroughly.

She shares her house with too many cats, a dog, a green tree frog that swims in the toilet, and as many possums as can break in every night. This is not how she imagined life as a grown-up.

Lisa has been published since 2012, and was a LAMBDA finalist for her quirky, awkward coming-of-age romance Adulting 101, and a Rainbow Awards finalist for 2019’s Anhaga.
